I've go Iosivas/Ford-Wheaton/Trey Palmer going in the late 3rd/early 4th rd range. Where do you think these guys are going to go?

No idea. I'd guess around the 4th, but total guess.

What’s going to happen is we’ll forego a QB, be the worst team in the league again. But then win on accident and have the 2nd pick again. They will get Williams and we will be forced to grab Maye or else look stupid.. and then we suck

I would just as soon draft Maye as much as Williams. Both are really good.

    Question

    If JSN/Johnston/Addison

    Or

Smith/Sanders/Van Ness are on the board at 1-12, who do you pick?

More likely, we finally have the worst record and the NFL institutes a draft lottery.

Maye is an elite prospect. Who might even go above Williams.

    Give me

    Agreed about the WR's.

I think Smith and Van Ness are both FREAKS. I love the FREAKS.

It sure would be hard for me to pass on Bijan at 1-12.

Without a doubt, there will be players at 12 that we will wish we had taken in hindsight. And that's even if we get a great player. There is as much potential from 11-45 as there is 1-10. It's just a little riskier on the downside.

This mini mock eliminates a lot of the risk.

If JSN is gone I’m hoping for Van Ness or Smith at 12. Van Ness seems like a guy that can get you atleast 8 sacks year 1.

Don't like any of the WRs until after around pick 25. Sweet spot would be early to mid-2nd for top guys imo.

Not sure Smith is a true LB and he's a small Edge, which means he's likely a situational player for our defense, albi a really good one. His best fit will be a 3/4 defense and while he's super athletic, he's got some work to do to realize his potential ( https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/news/nolansmith ). Don't think he's idea fit for Coach Ryans defense and I wouldn't take him at 12.

Van Ness is rising and I'm afraid he goes in Top 10, but if he's there at 12 I'd take him. LVN is raw, but he's got that rare combination of size, athletic ability and motor that can make him great if he continues to develop. Iowa played him all over the line, and will likely benefit from concentrating on just playing edge with some ability to move inside if needed. There is some risk he develops to his full potential, but he's got the ingredients to be special ( https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/news/lukas-van-ness ).

Love Sanders and think mocks are short changing where he likely goes (my guess 15-25 range, but could easily be a bit sooner). He reminds me of a guy like Vrabel who can rush the passer, stop the run or drop back. He's still learning the position, but he's got some very intriguing tools and production ( https://www.si.com/nfl/draft/news/drewsanders ). He delivers some stunning hits on tape and has some versatility (after playing mostly Edge at Alabama)... He doesn't have the superior athletic ability of Smith or Van Ness, but he's not a slug (4.59 40 and 37" vert at Pro Day).

My dream would be to get both of those guys (LVN and Sanders) and believe they could help turn our defense around quickly. None of these guys are perfect prospects and there is risk with all three, but they all have tremendous attitudes and potential.

    I would take Van Ness

Both him and Nolan are freaks with high motors. I don't mind JSN either but the quality of receivers in the later rounds seems better than DL

Don't be surprised if Murphy falls to us. QJ, JA, and Sanders all seems too high for 12

Forgot about Myles Murphy. A pass rushing machine. Also a great pick at 12 but doubt he’s there.

At 12 I would much prefer to draft a Defensive End. Starting Defensive End especially in a 4-3 defense are harder to find. If the Texans drafted a Wide Receiver in the first round I like Johnston. I want that big physical receiver that the Texans have been lacking since Hopkins left. When I watch JSN he reminds me too much of Metchie and I would like to see a WR with a different skill set. There are other big physical Wide Receivers that the Texans could look at later in the Draft such as Justin Shorter, Xavier Hutchinson, or Keytaon Thompson.
