Looks like the Rockets couldn’t even succeed at tanking this year. Aa that pain and we may still likely end up between 5-7 and be rebuilding/tanking for yet another year under the tutelage of Silas.

We already have our franchise player in Alperen Sengun, no further additions are necessary.

    If I keep 7…..

Im assuming VW, Scoot, Amen, Ausar, Miller, are certainly gone. Who goes as well in the top 6 I dont know. Ill guess it is Keyonte George for someone that wants a scoring guard.

Leaves us choosing between Whitmore, Dick, Wallace or Walker.

    Im going Wallace.

However if we are at 3-7, Im going for Jaylen Brown.

Just because the players after Scoot are difficult to predict does not mean none of them can become good or even great players. Taking Wemby and Scoot are not sure bets, they just have less perceived risk. There is no such thing as a slam dunk draft prospect.

Maybe have a little faith given the Rockets have recently taken at least good players who appear like they should be rotation players on a NBA team at later picks like #16 Sengun, #17 Tari, #23 Garuba, #24 Christopher and #29 TyTy. And even Green and Jabari have definitely shown they have place in the NBA.

Yes, the Rockets need star players, and hopefully at least one of these guys can become that. But avoiding complete busts who wash out before a 2nd contract in the draft is just as important toward building out a team.

You need more than a franchise player. Playoff basketball is about finding and exploiting weaknesses. So you need 8-9 guys with as few glaring weaknesses as possible.

Brown is a UFA after next season, it would be foolish to fumble the rebuild on a one year rental.
