I mean, I’d love Jaylen Brown. But what’s the guarantee he’d sign an extension with us? If he’d agree to an extension, I’d give up a lot for him. A lot.
You're thinking about it the wrong way. There's no chance he'll be a Rocket if he hasn't agreed an extension beforehand. So if this is true (which I'm skeptical about) then it means they know or feel that he would sign an extension. He's a star player with one season left on his contract. We know how this goes. If he wants to leave, he'll demand to be traded immediately to the team of his choice or walk to that team in a season. His team will take half price. Other teams will offer less because he won't promise an extension. It's like clockwork. Frankly I think if he doesn't win the title this season, he's leaving. I agree with those that say he seems like he wants to try his luck at having his own team outside Tatum's shadow.
Sengun and the Brooklyn picks, plus whatever salary filler. That might include guys like KPJ, KJ, or Tari.. idc, get it done!
Harden would be free Brown would require us to send out the majority of our assets I'd rather have Harden for free, if I'm picking between the two options.
No team is better positioned to make this kind of move this offseason than the Rockets. With all the talk about Harden, I've always said it isn't just about Harden returning but about who he could potentially bring with him, and that's not to say that he would be bringing Brown but who could team up with Brown here could be. Brown will make $28.5m next year which would leave the Rockets $31.5m in cap space to work with to bring in another big name. Not hard for them to get to the $50m mark either - just send KPJ out and you are there. The Rockets have the cap space and the assets to make bigtime changes and be instant contenders. Question is, who is the other big name they could go after?
Lol, sure yes, Mikal Bridges (who Brooklyn turned down 4 first round picks for, reportedly), all NBA resume guys like Siakam is a booby prize compared to Jalen Green. Ok! Like in what possible universe do the Celtics (defending conference champs, bunch of guys in their prime) look over to Houston and say "let's blow it up, we want what THOSE GUYS have!" Not this one.
Also Brown probably isn't going to elevate the level of play of the young guys around him. Harden will
Am I misremembering or was there a rumor about Brown wanting to play with Harden back in the day? Maybe when we were considering trading Paul?
We can have both. Harden in free agency and Brown through trade (KPJr + Tate and lots of picks works)
If the Rockets get #2 or #3. Would you give up that pick, Sengun and KJ? I think the Rockets would want to keep their back court together and add a SF and Center.
Yeah, I would make that trade. I feel like then we could attract more free agents. Get a center and some shooters. The dream would be Wemby and trade for brown
Dunno the other name, but alas it ainta gonna be Jaylen Brown. And quite uncertain about the first name, quite frankly.

Its kind of wacky to have all these wacky conspiracy theorists that came about from the wacky daily news/stories that get shoveled by the wacky media outlets Its always the wacky messenger(Brown/Irving etc) who gets nailed to the cross but not the wacky farm trolls who hide behind their wizard of oz curtain spewing out information with a ounce of truth and avalanche full of falsehood But on a bball note, if the Rockets pull off a trifecta of Wemby-Harden-Brown, then they will be legit playoff threats and clutch forum will be complete madness, in the good way version
True. If we do get Wemby we can consider that our talent acquisition phase through the draft is over. We got all the talent from the draft we need at that point.
