Mills is better than Wilson and knows his offense. Bring Wilson in as the #3 to sit and regain some confidence but I ain't offering more than our 5th round pick and that move still does not solve our problem at QB1. I like the idea of Bryce Young as QB1 but I would seriously consider bringing in a vet to help him and Mills.
Is this a serious question? Honestly. Aaron Rodgers doesn’t know if he’s going to finish the season or play another 5 years. Why would he come to a team rebuilding anyway? Why would we trade draft capital for him? We wouldn’t be able to compete with him and this roster anyway.
yes the Jets are better than the Texans. Jets were 7-10 last year despite awful qb play. The finished on awful losing streak largely because they got nothing from the QB. Most analysts think they are a playoff lock if they have good qb production next season.
Jets had a top 5 defense last year and just missed the playoffs while we were arguably the worst team in the league with a 29th(?) ranked defense and 30th ranked offense.
Why not Lamar? There is a general trend for why not. PRICE. In baseball, it's full value long term contracts without a risk discount. It is only compounded when full value is expected to be paid to the player and another team in a trade. Lamar expects to get his full value guaranteed. So do the Ravens in Draft and Players. So some stupid owners will pay double the value for a player. I don't want the owner of the team I root for to be one. If he is paid what he's worth, which includes both salary and cost to acquire his rights, then OK. But he will get more because fans demand foolishness in their owner.
45 to 50 mill average and around $175 million guaranteed is the going rate. No matter what the funny non guaranteed money added on is. You have to pay for quarterbacks my friend.
250 mil guaranteed that has to be put in escrow at time of signing, plus two 1st rd picks for a guy that's won one playoff game? Pass
OK. How much are 3 1st rounders worth? Deduct that from the Contract. Note - I'm not even arguing value, just the deduction required to keep him AT value. ie You have determined a car is worth $100,000 from a dealer (draft pick). But a person wants $100,000 and there is a $75,000 note (RAVENS). So the cost would be $175,000 for a car (player) you already agreed is worth $100,000.
250 mil guaranteed that has to be put in escrow at time of signing, plus two 1st rd picks for a guy that's won one playoff game? Pass You want to pay this kind of money to an injury prone QB? Give me Young on a rookie deal over LJ. and you know how I feel about Young.
For me it's simple. Lamar has been on the decline since his remarkable MVP season, he wants the most guaranteed money in the league, and it would cost us at least 2 1st Rd picks. Although he's still young and could obviously turn it around, he's dynamic because of his insane speed and running ability, which opens him up to more punishment and will likely fade (with injuries/age). I just don't see the value here and would rather invest in a young QB this year or next.
I keep hearing injury prone. I know he was hurt last year. But the year before that he missed games only due to COVID stuff right? EDIT disregard….I looked it up to answer my own question
