There is no future for a KPJ-Jalen back court. I don’t care how many points they score, if they can’t stop anyone we are not gonna play winning basketball. Tonight’s win was a pointless win over the worst team in the nba and just hurts our draft chances. If anything tonight KPJ just reminded us that he’s our best shooter. We need to put him in a shooting role, not a point guard role.

Need to get a good defensive-minded coach to train Jalen up and get him working hard on the other end. He has all the tools to challenge shots, just needs to try harder on that end of the court and exercise better fundamentals.

I'd be ecstatic, too, if it meant he got six rings

Rockets fans have to be some of the most miserable fans ever. When we lose, you guys are b!tching in these game threads. When we win, with our back court going for thirty each, you guys are b!tching about the win.

$TFU! It’s a dumb ass win! No way in hell we are going to get Wemby now even if we get 14% chance of getting the top pick. Silas is such a dumb ass coach

Wait... you don't think Jalen Green belongs on a list with known defensive stalwarts like... CJ McCollum?

Eye test Jalen Green on defense this week. It was rough vs NY. He basically gets lost in the wash at the elbow on and is stationary the whole time, or he'll close out very late on the perimeter.

His effort can charitably be described as cursory at best.

I know that some folks are claiming there's a defensive renaissance but... his numbers and the eye test are just horrible post ASB, still among the weakest in the league

It's possible he's making up for some of his lapses with his athleticism and throwing shooters off more than you might think based on watching him have to scramble around so much. But you're right, the fundamentals are poor and he gets distracted or out of position easily. With his wingspan, agility, and explosiveness, though, he could easily become an elite defender down the road if he is held accountable and taught how to play. It's one of the main reasons I'm in favor of having a strong defensive-minded coach. I think the offense will kind of solve itself as Green, Sengun, and Jabari continue to get reps and become more consistent, and if we get an explosive playmaker like Scoot or Amen Thompson, let alone Wemby, we're going to be totally fine on that end in the long term.

But we can't let these kids build bad habits on defense the way they have been. It'll follow them around their entire careers if they do. Young players can learn how to play defense, you just have to teach them and coach the importance of it.

They can stop people, they just have to be held accountable.

Their lack of defense is because they think their value is in scoring, and not defense....a good coach will teach them otherwise.

As for KPJ - you may be right, but would you give up Jalen Green?

The past two games I think he regressed a bit but since the all-star break this kinda matches the eye test. He has significantly improved his effort on that end post all-star break. Mainly on ball. Still has major issues allowing things like back door cuts.

Regardless of how you feel about this, if the Pistons or Spurs get Wemby and the Rockets fall to 5 or 6, this is going to be so unbelievably regrettable.

I sincerely hope the Rockets get Wemby at the third-worst spot because otherwise...

Do you understand how statistics work? You moron. The highest odds of getting Wemby is 14%. Which we’ve already clinched. Even if we win the rest of our games our odds stay the same in getting the #1 pick you tool

But it literally doesn't matter. All three of the worst teams have the exact same odds at Wemby.

Exactly right, but what @Clutch is worried about is that we drop all the way to 6 or 7 and our floor would have been 5, it is only a pick or two difference, but it is meaningful - just depends upon what value you put on that.....

So KPJ and Jalen going off on great shooting nights is now bad?? This place is pathetic.

History I don't think shows much a difference. It's Just about as likely that 5 is a good olayer as 7

    Kris Dunn 5 , Jamal Murray 7
Dante exam 5 Julius Randle 7
Alex len 5 Ben Mac 7
