You know Hidalgo...lol. Tony Eusebio was my favorite Astro growing up by the way. I had an infatuation with the big man whose mustache game was fire and who only hit balls in the gaps.
No offense, but I don't think this is that strong of evidence that Pressly should have been avoided. Even if it were a real (minor) effect, Pressly is still a likely better option than Stanek or whoever the next best guy is. It was a high leverage spot in a winnable game, that's when you want to use your best pitchers. Sometimes they give up runs.
Yes Eusebio was a strange athlete. I always liked him and wanted him to get more at bats. Singles hitting big man. He was like a poor mans John Kruk.
LOL Some of those situations the pitcher was in with a bigger lead just to "get some work in" Pressly last year pitching with the game tied threw 7 2/3 innings, gave up 3 hits, 3 bb and struck out 12. That's pretty dominant I don'tn like Dubon starting and the Myers over Chas decision stunk...but using Pressly was the right decision and there in fact isn't evidence that a "closer" pitching in a non save situation is a bad idea. Hell many teams don't even use a "closer" anymore
Especially Myers...I mean Dubon in no way should be a starter....but Chas was one of the hero's of our championship team...it's opening freaking day...kind of like a slap in the face
I agree. I have no idea what's going on. Julks getting a start before Chas? Dusty and the Astros must like what they see in Meyers, but I don't get the disrespect to Chas
