The fallacy in all this trade talk and waiting until next year is the willingness for the team with the number one pick to trade it away. In the 56 years since the old AFL merged with the NFL, including the Bears this year, the number 1 pick has only been traded away 13 times. This becomes even less likely if the team with the number 1 pick in 2024 needs a QB. The last QB sure fired pick that a team traded up to number 1 to get finished his senior year in college with a 64.5% completion rate, 4,714 yards, 43 TDs and 13 ints. This QB was Jared Goff.
It's not just trading for the 1st pick. If you like 3 QB's more than any QB in this draft, odds are that you will be able to trade for one of them. Kinda like this draft. Especially if the Texans only win 5-6 games as expected.
True. But Kyler Murray is still their qb…and have serious doubts that he can lead a team to the the Super Bowl.
I think those concerns are fair. He has been given some insane weaponry and we have seen little improvement the last few years. The cardinals are arguably the worst situation in the NFL imo. I wonder if they would consider a Lamar for Kyler swap and how that could shake out. Personally I would pull the trigger if I were the Cardinals.
I don't think so either. The Mills standard shouldn't be hard for a talented guy like Young/Stroud to beat, regardless of the weapons around him.
Every draft is different. You and some others believe the top two next year are the greatest ever so you would have to have pick 1 or 2.
Interesting that all of teams in need of a QB are still heavily favored to take one this year. Carolina already traded up, Texans/Colts seem content with taking whoever is available, and think we could very well see another trade up for one. All in all we could see 4 QBs taken in the Top 10, if not higher. So either teams really like this class or aren’t willing to gamble on a 2024 sweepstakes.
I don’t think anyone is saying this class doesn’t have good prospects. Williams and Maye are just better prospects.
Disagree here. Think we’d be able to find a ton of posts about the lack of quality (to say the least) of this years class. But even then, it does not look like teams are willing to wait for the 2024 class despite the simplicity and sureness of the strategy per some posters.
Correct, teams are unwilling to wait. Which should lower the number of QB needy teams. I was taught patience is a virtue. Something that ownership has failed to realize and something they will pay the price for. But hey they will be exciting for awhile and there will be butts in the seats again. That's all that really matters to the McNair's and that's good enough for most fans. I'm just glad I didn't renew my season tickets after 20 years of seeing the same old same old. If the McNair's are lucky Ryan's will be the new Kubiak. Tell me what did Kubiak win while he was down on Kirby? Think about it, he won just as much as BOB did.
Maybe I haven’t paid attention to those posts. I have mainly read that the prospects have warts, but still good prospects. Y’all know I don’t like Stroud but I do think he could be a Goff or Cousins type on his high side
If we take Young, I’m okay on holding on the WR position until next year. As long as we have a quality TE in place.
And the Texans would be the only team in the league interested in them so they would be guaranteed to get one of them. LOL
