I find it uneasy to criminalize owning something when people already own it. And I don't think it would even be feasible politically. Any gun ban is going to grandfather the current circulation.
Completely impractical. Not a realistic proposal. Can you imagine approaching a gang in an urban area and telling them they need to hand over all their guns? Worse yet, can you imagine being the police offer tasked with that assignment?
Imagine a black officer going up to a three percenter militia and asking them to return their rifles.
I agree that it is not politically feasible today. We are moving in the wrong direction with fewer restrictions, for God's sake. Other countries have done it, and again, you can do it over time, not in one shot. We can do it, and we will do it when the new generation grows up and takes power. The only thing stopping that from happening is that we are no longer a functional democracy. To add - I personally know some of these people who talk tough, but when it comes down to it, they will back down. They are law-abiding citizens first and criminals last. Although there are always a few who are willing to risk it all, they are few and far between. Another point I want to make is in my book, people can keep their guns with license and registration with a valid need for it.
Not really. It's a lot easier to be a single woman with kids now than before. It still sucks, but it went from "literally impossible" in the 1950s to commonplace today. My grandmother raised 3 children in the 60s by herself, if you said this to her, she'd probably get up out of her grave and slap you, lol. So you think women didn't want to join the workforce, but were instead forced into it? That's an interesting theory that spits in the eye of a lot of women who fought to overcome obstacles to gain their place alongside men in the workforce. You're not wrong that the two-income trap exists, however, the idea that it began before women entered the workforce is not something I can sign on to. Edit: I mis-understood the stat you're talking about. I think this actually reinforces my argument. If you have a huge influx of new people into a workforce you will see wages dip.
Yep gradual tightening for an overflowing product. Limit it to self defense for X years, increase/enforce awareness of securing the firearm, then double fines and sentencing for inappropriate use. The first 20 years of this won't be easy and gun manufacturers will either win through lobbying or die a slow death through consolidation waves.
Dude, I suggest you quit telling me what I should or should not do. We are NOTHING alike, and your viewpoints are exactly what saddens me about Republican voters who can't see the truth if it shot them in the face. Bury the children, say a few prayers, and go purchase some weapons to pose for your kids at Easter. That's the GOP way!
im guessing tradertexxx is, as usual, full of B.S when he claims australia "threw citizens who wouldn't get Covid vaccines into imprisonment camps".
Nope. Provide armed and trained security to schools so we protect our children. Very simple and effective. It's a pragmatic solution in a country that will always have hundreds of millions of guns in the citizens' hands. For about 7-8% of what we have spent on bombs in Ukraine, we could provide armed and trained security to every school in America.
Take your pro Russia BS and shove it. What a crock! Republicans are against any required safety classes for people buying guns. What about them? We need required training, and stricter age limits for gun owners. Russians are invading Ukraine and killing innocent women, children, and babies and in America, kids with weapons are blowing away kids. The 2023 GOP Party stance Arm the schools, arm the country, mourn the dead, and thank God for the 2nd amendment. Ignore the mental healthcare needs, ignore those who can't afford healthcare and prescription drugs, ignore those kids crying out for help, and man up sissies. Daddy's gonna buy you an AR-15 so you can blow people to smithereens if you get angry.
Children shouldn't have to go to school with kevlar backpacks and armed guards just so you tiny penis proud bois can live out your weekend warrior wet dreams. The GOP is already trying to de-legitimize and de-fund public education. In what world do you think they would vote for funding school security on a national level. They won't even provide food for the poor like Jesus instructed.
I think a lack of impulse control, a failure to think long-term, and an overall bend towards emotional rather than logical thought processes contribute to the problem. The question then is what leads to these flaws. No doubt the community environment in which we live plays a role.
Some facts: 1. In the famous Australian gun confiscation in the 1990's, they estimate that they got as many as 1 million guns. That was around 1/3rd of the total guns in circulation in Australia. A tremendous amount of non-compliance. As info, there are 400 million guns in the US. 400x what Australia had... and a prevailing pro-gun culture that Australia did not have. 2. When NY and CT mandated that residents register their "high capacity magazines" after Sandy Hook, hundreds of thousands of citizens refused to do so. This is NY and CT. Think about how this would go in Alabama and Wyoming. Disarming the populace is impossible in America and a horrible idea on top of that. The PEOPLE should have the power, not the government. Always remember this, even if today you do not fully comprehend it.
There could be factors biologically or genetically but a large difference between black vs non-black is who their women choose to have sex with and procreate with. Characteristics like swag, p*rn skills, fast money, and street cred, are taken too highly by black women. Some of those traits aren't inherently bad, but they should be further down the list and replaced with character and being hard-working. Black men drop the ball too by impregnating jezebels but men face direct legal consequences if the situation goes left. Women do not, and are almost incentivized to have babies because they know the government will be there to help play daddy
Here are also some facts I gave to you previously which you conveniently failed to respond to. Over half the guns in the U.S. are owned by just 3% of the population. Of the rest the vast majority only own 1-2 guns which are handguns. Also if you actually research historical documents on the 2nd Amendment the main reason for it was because the founding fathers did not want a standing army. They wanted TRAINED militias to call up in defense of country and to quell rebellions like Washington did with the Whiskey Rebellion. To your point though, confiscation is a non-starter. The cat is already out of the bag and it never should have gotten this far.
