They don't even have people working the booths.

    This is some bull.
I won't even talk about the exchange at 288

Houston should have to pay drivers to use that garbage freeway.

Beltway and Westpark are expensive as hell, Katy tollway is ok unless it's rush hour then you'll get raped for 7 bucks each way. I think all toll roads should do it how Katy tollway does, price changes based on traffic conditions. I am willing to pay more if it will save me significant time, but to drop $2 a toll on a Sunday afternoon? GTFO

lol beltway is practically free compared to the highway robbery that is 288 toll road and the 288 to beltway 8 exchange.

    highway 6 to downtown on 288 is 15 dollars....for 15 miles....
the exchange from 288 to beltway is like 2 bucks...wtf.

I've been a Houston driver for 17 years now.

I've paid a toll one time, when somebody was late for a flight and I had to get from Jersey Village to the airport, and in reality they paid for it. I was the one who tossed the money in, so some blood was on my hands.

I refuse to pay tolls. I already pay for a vehicle, registration, gas, insurance and taxes for the right to drive. They will have to pry that toll money out of my cold dead hands.

Then it hit me with another 2$

I want to find The Mayor and ask for a refund and an explaination

I don't even think they have those money collectors anymore
They send everything through the mail . . even if you don't have a sticker
and really. . .at this point .. .What is the point of the f***ing sticker?
    You don't get a discount anymore . ..

I think I used to pay something like $10-$12 each way for a 1.25-1.5 hour 30-mile trip to work in Dallas. No idea what the tolls on the DNT are now. Glad those days are gone. Makes me feel much richer. I used to complain about every road around DFW being or becoming a toll while we sit still in traffic paying the tolls. Nice to see Houston is keeping pace.

if you were going on 288 north and exited beltway west feeder, you could get on the beltway before the big 1.75 booth.

now, if you exit the feeder, you have to pass up the kirby signal and get on another 2 miles later....1.25.

they closed the entrance that used to be there and their explanation is "use the 2$ bridge instead.."

so instead of free feeder + 1.75..
    it's 2$ bridge + 1.75 or 1.25 many miles later.

For those wanting to live in a libertarian utopia, the 288 toll road is a perfect example of leaving the poor to deal with traffic while the rich move quickly down the road at a premium. Lol. The 288 tollway was privately financed which is why it's so expensive.

Going from 610 - Beltway 8 was advertised as 5.69$!!!!
I was like WTF?? (when did we start using non 5 or 10 increments in the cost for tolls)

Yep, that's the 288 tollway for you. I believe it was financed by a Spanish company. I live in the area now, just south of Pearland and the fees to go from beginning of the tollway to downtown in rush hour is $15+. I was thinking this morning if my job were located in the downtown area and I chose to take the tollway back and forth, it would be about $600/month.

    That's asinine.

It does aggravate me that the direct connectors to Sam Houston Tollway were not paid for by the county and now we have to pay a $2.57 premium just to exit. That for me would be about $5/day, $25/week, $100/month just to take the ****ing exits.

At 60 mph. Sheet if you are going to charge 15 bucks, at least make it 70-75mph? There only like 2 exits and entrances....

They ruined the regular 288 with all the left lane exists and entrances too.
