just saw it on hbo. ashamed i couldn't catch it while in theaters. fukkin 9000/10

i cried at parts people shouldn't cry at. tom was that good. i only wish they would reference the first movie moar. i wouldn't mind if they added an extra 60 mins to the movie to explain things more. certain plot points didn't get enough screen time.

will skip on homework and rewatch it tonight.

Yup. The first movie was more legendary and socially impactful....but the second was a better-made movie (thanks to vast improvements in movie-making technology).

I thought the second did an excellent job of referencing the first movie without overdoing it and without telling the same story all over again. I agree that I wouldn't have minded it being a longer movie.

Regardless of his personal wackiness, Cruise makes great movies.

i was waiting for a "i feel the need..." line
or half expecting a line from his other movies for some reason like "you had me at hello" or "mission accomplished" or "i want the truth"

At the end, when they're trying to land on the aircraft carrier, he buzzed the tower, but they didn't add any dialogue for it. It's a nice way to pay homage t to the original without overdoing it.

In the first movie, after Maverick won his first aerial combat exercise, he flew his jet way-too-close to the control tower (thus "buzzing the tower") in order to celebrate (and got in trouble for it).
