The schedule actually isn't that hard so 6 wins is doable. Just gotta protect the rookie QB and hope he doesn't turn the ball over a ton.
Orrrr since the team is already better with the recent additions in FA, start Case Keenum, keep Mills(just in case) draft Richardson #2 and coach him up for a season (unless needed).
Dose of reality for the guys who think this team will play itself out of another top 5 pick next year. Caleb/Drake 2024. Hold fast.
Wonder how well this site predicted last year’s records on this date in 2022. These odds can change everyday throughout the year based on transactions in FA, injury, draft etc. What if the Colts get Lamar does that change their odds? How about Bryce? They have the Bears pegged at 7.5. Why?
Looking at it sensibly Im not expecting a BRAND NEW coach, staff, system, philosophy and player additions to mesh well enough to warrant a rainbows and unicorns outlook. Texans are going to struggle while everyone figures it out on the fly and thats OK! If they win more than 5 games I will be amazed.
David Culley won 4 games with an absolute disaster of a roster among all the other dysfunction. 5+ wins shouldn’t be a rainbow and unicorns outlook IMO.
And underperformed the preseason expectation of 5 wins. Im cool with the talent influx so far - better players should equal better results, but Im still not in the belief that this team is going to surprise anyone next year with an outlier season. If they end up going QB at 2 then that win total should even further be called into question, but it would negate my overall premise so it would be a non issue at that point.

I’m not saying they will, but using some random betting site to prove they won’t win a few more games is kind of silly. I’m not making predictions until I see what they are going to bring to the field. There could still be trades for vets or surprise draft picks that make a difference in the first year. I’m pretty sure with the additions they have made already and a defensive minded head coach their defense is going to improve. They also had a brutal schedule to start the year last year and were very much in a lot of games. With Rankins, Ward, Littleton, and Perryman their run defense will be demonstrably better. Add another edge rusher via draft or trade and they could easily be a top 15 defense. They added an excellent veteran tight end, Offensive lineman, and running back to go with Pierce. There are a ton of reasons to think the Texans will win 6 or more games, but the same injuries and unforeseen circumstances could happen to them as well. Betting odds are designed to bring equal money on both sides of the bet, not to be great predictors especially this far out from the season.
