I won't be surprised, nor disappointed if we don't select Young or Stroud with #2.

Will Anderson is the kind of tough, physical dawg that this defense needs on the edge.

To Gucci's point, I'm not sure whether to see our lack of GM/HC presence at these workouts as a tell or bluff, but it is interesting.

Maybe we already know who we're going to take and what the Panthers do doesn't matter.

I just want it in the record that I’ve spent decades on this website. One thing I know for certain…I am constantly amazed how sure people are about their own opinions that don’t know ****.

You guys act like it’s science when every single year the best quarterback is never the first one drafted. I’d like to single out raining threes as a particular pompous know it all. If Lunhow came out tomorrow and said Bryce Young is the next Joe Montana his head might explode.

But carry on with whatever thing in your brain makes you write opinions as facts and act like douche bags about the unknowable.

Texans are going to win more games this year. By not going QB they are risking QB purgatory for the next several years. Now is the time to take a shot at the QB who you feel will give your team a chance to win at a high level.

    Ryan Mallet, Hoyer, Fitzpatrick, Osweiler.

That is what the Texans destiny is, if Will Anderson is the pick.

The more I play the game, the more it looks like a gambling addict that has faith in his system will beat the casino. They never consider that if you beat the casino too frequently, you get a visit from some very bad dudes informing you that you are not welcome anymore.

So QB 1a or 1b, QB or Defense. It's all just the best guess hoping you get the odds above 50% hits at some point.

So having an opinion on players makes me a pompous ass?

I don't know anything, my opinions on these QB's are based on facts.

    1. Young - there's only 1 QB in NFL history that's close to Young's size that's ever won a championship.

Stroud- I think he's slightly above avg and that's not good enough to have to deal with his agent. Let's hope Cal has learned from the Watson fiasco. Not to mention the track record of Ohio State QB's.

I certainly appreciate that Luhnow set this team up for a decade or more or historic success, in addition to winning a championship, getting to another WS while he was here and assembling the talent to make another WS in addition to winning another WS. You don't? If that makes me a pompous ass in your mind then so be it. Yes I like single mindedness and people that put winning above all else. You don't? Why even keep score if winning isn't the ultimate goal?

BTW, you obviously don't know me and I truly would like to know how you've formed this opinion of me. Give me a pm and let's discuss this.

They will have multiple 1st rd picks to trade up for a QB in next years draft and there's more than one QB that I like in next years draft more than this years draft. Drafting an above avg but not great QB is what puts your team in purgatory. See: Schaub.an RS failure to draft a QB other than the Sexual Predator has really done damage to this fan bases mindset

Exactly and I don't understand why some people get so emotional over others opinions.

Don’t you think the coach and GM are interested in winning since their jobs depend on it? To that end, I trust they are going to take whatever action they believe will lead to this team winning. I bet they are more interested in winning than you or I.

I get what you're going for here, but there's been multiple "6 feet 195lb" quarterbacks to win the Super Bowl. These listings were likely inflated before the combine days.

Young, listed at the same size and weighed more at the combine, technically.

I don't follow college football at all, but Tank Dell is such a badass football name. Too bad he's not a Maurice Jones-Drew style running back.

Raining threes I love your takes but the only one QB in history line is getting old. Yes there’s risk potential for injury, and he hasn’t been chronically injured.

Separately, even for being his size, it’s pretty nuts how highly he is rated. Even compared to those that are prototypical and significantly larger. Shouldn’t his stock be significantly devalued as a result of his size if it’s that big of an issue or he significantly makes up for it elsewhere right?

And I almost guarantee you, if you run the percentages of QB drafted historically greater than 6 foot vs under 6 foot, you will likely fine those 6 and under have gone to and or won the Super Bowl of all drafted QB’s in the same height range is significantly greater than those over 6 foot that have gone to or won the super bowl over those all QB’s over 6 foot that have been drafted.

You’re making a this OR that when it’s a grey area.

Like I’ve said before. On skillset alone, Bryce is a no doubt number 1. But, his size is a concern and anyone that doesn’t think that is fooling themselves.
Bryce is the only QB I would take at 2. I’m good drafting defense and reloading our supporting core if they don’t think there is the right QB in the draft for them.

Daniel Jeremiah emphatically said Williams and Maye would be 1&2 in this draft, his words were they’re special talents that don’t come around often.

Prove it. What is the list of QB’s that are under 6ft that have won superbowls?

    @cmoak1982 @raining threes

Are y’all willing to see the Texans give up at minimum a Panthers or Niners (Lance trade) package to move up? Also there is good chance the #1 and #2 teams in draft order need a qb so there is no guarantee they accept an offer.

Exactly if your plan works this is your last chance to pick an elite Qb at the top of the draft without giving up a boatload of future assets. Pick will be Bryce

For those two? Yes, no question.

And you’re right, if we aren’t one of the top picks then we might be SOL. I still think we’re going to be picking high next draft. Similar to how Lions were before this past season, first year under Campbell, played better and were competitive but still not winning

    Elite is the key word.
And it’s very unlikely that the Texans go from last to first. Lawrence didn’t do it and he’s far better than any prospect in this draft. Lions didn’t do it first year under Campbell.

I don’t think they’ll make the playoffs but I wouldn’t be surprised by 7-9 wins putting you in the 10-15 draft range. At that point you’re hoping a team takes 3 first rounders from you so you can move, and even then they might want to take the QBs themselves.
