This is a regular season starting lineup with the injuries we have. It will be interesting to see how many substitutions in the later innings. We're only a week away from opening day.
This is the way I kept up with them. I'd grab the Chronical and Post during a free period. That was when the only games we saw were on Saturday Baseball National Broadcasts. NLW did not permit listening on the local Radio Affiliate.
"I'm ready to go out there and beat some folks, win some ballgames, chest-bump with these guys, and eat some gummy bears. You know what I'm saying?" - Colby Rasmus One of my favorite quotes regarding Spring Training. Remembering it makes me want some gummy bears.
My grandmother made a habit of it. I've got scorecards from my dad's HS games, a bunch of Cardinals and then Astros games she was listening to on the radio, and every game she went to with us at the Astrodome. Pretty neat to go back and look through.
We subscribed to the Post and I every day I checked the NL Top 10 for avg, HRs, and RBIs to see if any Astros were on the lists.
One of my favorite memories of the Astros clinching the World Series was Dusty pausing to fill out his scorecard after Tucker got the final out. It was pure.
Kemp’s projected slash line: .250/.330/.360 Hensley’s: .240/.320/.360 Not sure what we should be hoping for Houston to give up to gain maybe 20 points in ops over 100 plate appearances, especially considering Hensley is a more versatile defensive player with much higher upside. Kemp is also making $3.7M this year compared to Hensley’s $600k. (I do like Tony Kemp as a player tho.)
You used to be able to request a scorecard at the Astrodome. I think it was free or maybe they charged .50 cents. It had the official lineups printed with each players current batting average. My grandmother preferred to use a notebook and make the lines with a ruler and a pencil. She would also keep score this way when watching Astros games on tv.
If we can trade away Dubon for Kemp, I'm all for it. Dubon still can't hit for shyt. If we don't make any moves, Dubon will end up with 150 ABs by the end of May, almost entirely useless ABs.
I really preferred the Post. The Chronicle has always felt like guys who wished they were somewhere else and targeting an audience that was somewhere else.
