What's your concern: Being asked by a colleague to be referred to as "X" and you with good intentions refer to them as "X" always, except you make one mistake, refer to them as "pre-X" and suddenly you are in trouble? Being asked by a colleague to be referred to as "X" and you with good intentions refer to them as "X" most of the time, but **** up from time to time because you were use to referring to them as "pre-X"? Being asked by a colleague to be referred to as "X" and you are an ******* and decided not to follow through and continue referring to them as "pre-X"? I'm sure I can come up with more scenarios, but I think you get the point. I don't think your statement is clear at all and I'm genuinely engaging you in conversation to understand your concerns.

Do you think someone with the name Bob identifies as "Her"? Karen identifies as he? You may find that, but it will be an extreme outlier. Also, if you just meet and start working with this person and they introduce themselves and their pronouns it should be really easy to remember that. You're in sales right? It is your job to remember stuff about people. Now it is understandable if you have known Bob for 5 years and he transitions to Karen and you slip up. Even they know that. Apologize, move one, and try not to do it again. No one is getting fired for that unless it repeatedly keeps happening and they are doing it on purpose.
In the professional world, many industries will do everything they can to disguise their titles as sales reps, and instead give themselves some title like Southwest Regional Vice President of Enterprise Industrial Relationships. When in reality... they are either an outside or inside sales rep. I don't know much about gaming, but I have worked in SAAS. Boy you want to talk about an industry where sales is definitely skimming, and skating. They pay massive amounts for them to essentially do nothing but schedule demos between the customer and the actual tech talent that does the demo while they might advance a slide or two. It's insane how much money they pay in that industry too. 200K starting BASE salaries are pretty basic. Get residual revenue too with a product that once is stood up almost never leaves for 5 to 10 years. So yeah... I get it somewhat. There are industries where it's bad, but it's only in a few in my experience. Most sales roles are an extremely valuable element of that industry, and the company couldn't survive without it. It's cheaper for the company, and for the customers its more time saving than having to take a college level crash course just to understand how to fix their challenge. Digital marketing alone can only get you so far, and actually can be more of a nuisance to prospective customers & consumers than informative.

guess my primary objection is folks who lead with their pronouns. it seems to be a part of every email signature and LinkedIn profile I encounter, which strikes me as an insistence that we inject politics into what should be a business only environment; it's a peculiar form of virtue signaling. As I mentioned earlier, I almost never refer to anyone in the third person in their presence so what's the point, really?

Doesn't matter what their personal views or choices are. It's part of work culture. No one complains that is forced upon them except people upset that they can't call people whatever gender they want.
