The rate at which you post stupid things in this thread is actually incredible.

I promise you there is more to come as I am sure you are rejoicing as this conflict carries on and escalates.

You have absolutely nothing to base your assumption that I am somehow rejoicing in the Russia/Ukraine war. I guess that’s just another stupid thing you posted in this thread.

I'm just saying it's Ukraine's decision and their's alone (or should be). If they want to keep fighting ok. We'll still send arms. But what the US thinks should be irrelevant.

On a negotiated peace, the armchair general in me thinks Ukraine should be amenable to this compromise. Ukraine keep Donbas but surrenders Crimea. Ukraine agrees to not join NATO, but is free to make other bilateral defense treaties with the US and EU, and Ukraine can join the EU if they want (and can qualify). The Zelenskyy government remains. Giving up Crimea gives Putin a tangible win that he can use to tell Russia all the death was worthwhile. Giving up NATO also lets Putin tell Russia that the national threat he warned about has been neutralized. At the same time, Ukraine's freedom to make other treaties will help them shore up their defense even if the name isn't NATO. And surrendering Crimea will hurt (it's the nicest real estate, frankly), but it's a well-defined geographic area that is not susceptible to scope creep because its a peninsula -- I'd worry that giving up some of the Donbas instead of Crimea would lead to later disputes about well this or that village should have been included and we should correct that later. But, that's just a suggestion. If Ukraine wants to stick to their guns and fight for total victory, that's fine.

Probably naive to think it's their choice alone. When getting weapons and money from foreign benefactors, the willingness of those benefactors to keep sending weapons and money are going to affect your choices. However, it's the sort of thing that any of the significant partners (Ukraine, US, EU) can unilaterally pull the brake, but to push the accelerator they all must agree. If the US stops funding, Ukraine's war-fighting ability will rapidly degrade and they must surrender. But, if Ukraine wants to surrender, all the funding and support from the US/EU won't matter. We can't make Ukraine fight. And even if we could make them fight, we certainly can't make them fight well. The fact that they're fighting and fighting well tells me they still want to fight and this is not a case of Washington calling the shots.

Another attack on the Russian occupied port of Sevastopol by the military of Ukraine. The video below includes sound. It's difficult to know what explodes, but there is a large explosion, either of something being fired on and struck, setting it off, likely a Ukrainian maritime drone, or that drone hitting it's target and blowing up. Unsure of what the first image is, apparently Russian warships entering the port. The video is below that. This is on or about 4:45am on March 22nd:

The NYT has an article today about the problems with many of the foreigners volunteering to help Ukraine including fighting in combat. Many of them appear to be unfit for duty in other militaries, lied about their histories and scamming donors.

I’m on my phone so apologize for not posting more of the article.

Stolen Valor: The U.S. Volunteers in Ukraine Who Lie, Waste and Bicker
People who would not be allowed anywhere near the battlefield in a U.S.-led war are active on the Ukrainian front, with ready access to American weapons.

They rushed to Ukraine by the thousands, many of them Americans who promised to bring military experience, money or supplies to the battleground of a righteous war. Hometown newspapers hailed their commitment, and donors backed them with millions of dollars.

Now, after a year of combat, many of these homespun groups of volunteers are fighting with themselves and undermining the war effort. Some have wasted money or stolen valor. Others have cloaked themselves in charity while also trying to profit off the war, records show.

One retired Marine lieutenant colonel from Virginia is the focus of a U.S. federal investigation into the potentially illegal export of military technology. A former Army soldier arrived in Ukraine only to turn traitor and defect to Russia. A Connecticut man who lied about his military service has posted live updates from the battlefield — including his exact location — and boasted about his easy access to American weapons. A former construction worker is hatching a plan to use fake passports to smuggle in fighters from Pakistan and Iran.

And in one of the more curious entanglements, one of the largest volunteer groups is embroiled in a power struggle involving an Ohio man who falsely claimed to have been both a U.S. Marine and a LongHorn Steakhouse assistant manager. The dispute also involves a years-old incident on Australian reality TV.

    Putin's lap dog speaks...

Trump will bend over backwards to please the worst of the worse. No way in hell do I think he wouldn't give these guys secrets that could put out country and soldiers in danger if it helped him get their support in tearing apart our Democracy. He is a traitor, who only cares about himself, and power to rule this country forever. He would love to throw out the Democratic process by instilling those who will only make him the winner. His wildest dream would be to end term limits for President and rule forever, and put his own justice system in place to shield him from all corruption and crimes. I can never understand people who don't see that. You can read that psycho like the 3rd grade level books he never mastered. He's so transparent.

And what’s to stop Russia from taking more territory? Seems to be their MO to keep taking and taking.
