Damn.. I was hoping clippers to fall into the play-in (good for our pick), then play well VS the 1st/2nd seed. But not by having to see one of their star players get injured.. I just want to see a healthy clippers in the playoffs to see what they're made off,, and want to see Gordon win also.
Clippers pick stands at #19 as of 3/22 PG’s injury, while not something to be happy about, certainly may change the trajectory they’ve been on recently.
We probably will have to keep track of OKC standing as well since they have a pick swap arrangement with the Clippers. OKC seems to be hitting their stride at the right time while other teams fighting are going through injury or chemistry issues.
Wait. That's a thing? Did I just forget about that because it seemed so unlikely that OKC finished with a better record?
Yep, we get the second-best pick between OKC, the Clippers, and Milwaukee. So if OKC passes the Clippers, we're getting their pick instead.
Wait a tick, I thought we got the Clippers pick no matter where they landed. You're saying the Clippers were going to get to SWAP with Thunder and we were going to get whichever of the two was higher? I'm so confused right now. In this scenario if the Thunder finished as the 7th pick and Clippers finished as the 15th pick then the Clippers would get the 7th pick, we would get the 15th pick and the Thunder would get the 30th pick?
Now I gotta cheer for both OKC and the Clippers to lose? Welp, a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do.
Yeah, it is amazing when you have an organization that has a franchise-wide shared vision. An organization that doesn't just draft players, but drafts players that they feel will fit together well and complement each other. An organization that is smart and hired other smart people that are detail oriented. An organization that is capable of identifying a good teacher that can develop players and then the GM lets him do his job. The Thunder are doing all of this without possibly their most important player. The improvement in players like Giddy, Pokuservski, Alexander and others is impressive. The Thunder are not perfect, but they as an organization and culture are better than the Rockets.
Wish list -Both OKC and LAC miss the playoffs and they are literally 1 pick away from each other (i.e 13th and 14th) -or both make the playoffs with same scenario (i.e. 15th and 16th) so OKC can't somehow swoop in a get a top pick) I don't want OKC to benefit going to the playoffs this year and they're able to take the Clippers lottery pick. F OKC
So the scenario we need is for the Thunder to beat the Clippers again on Thursday and then both of them lose the rest of the season.
