No matter what Mike trout does for the rest of his life he will never have more people watching him than he did in that moment. It won't even be closed. He probably had 70 million people watching him. WS doesn't even hit 1/3 of that That's how superstars are made. He choked.
Gotta say, overall WBC was super awesome this year. Pretty much movie script level ending as well. Anyone who dislikes Ohtani probably just doesn't like baseball.
Off topic but must be nice to be Ohtani's translator. Gets paid to watch Ohtani pitch/watch games and best seats in the house.
In the 7th, if he just reacted like he got hit by that pitch (which it looked like it nicked him) then he's on first, bases loaded, no outs. He was stubborn to be the hero.
Ohtani and Trout may forever be the best players to hardly ever play in the playoffs. Sad they are wasted with the Angels.
What's crazy is some think he can get $500 million contract. If Ohtani offered Crane a 50% discount, he'll still say no right ???
Ohtani is 100% leaving the angels. Did you see the way he loved winning and the emotions he showed? Once you feel that it's addicting. I bet Mets throw the bank at him. 10yr/550mil
Crane might do it for the market. Ohtani will draw positive attention to the Astros, and with them continuing to win it'll potentially push the Astros' brand further than ever before....both abroad and overseas (not in China obviously).
I don't think there's any way Ohtani goes to a team that isn't in California or New York. Those are the biggest markets in the game and the most recognizable brands abroad. Plus, playing on the west coast means that people in Japan can watch him play. Unfortunately, that means that I think he'd play for the Dodgers, Padres (who throw money around like it isn't real), Giants, Yankees or Mets. I don't think he'd sign with a team that doesn't have a winning history after his experience with the Angels so that probably rules out the Mariners despite their Ichiro connection.
