Cooks to the Cowboys -- good, get rid of the malcontents! And hopefully this is a sign that Metchie is ready.
This is a sh*t return in my opinion. Should have just kept him if that is all we could get. Of course, they probably needed to move him given the Tunsil salary. If we go QB with 1.2 we desperately need to get a vet center and draft a receiver (hopefully TE at 2.33), and LB depth. If all this happens we can contend for the AFC South. Tennessee has imploded, Jacksonville is meh, and the Colts don’t impress unless they hit on a QB. Is there a LB worth 1.12?
I like it. Dude didn’t want to be here anyway and we create $20M in cap space. Wish this could’ve been done sooner. Probably would’ve gotten top tier FAs
The cap space that is freed up is a major part of the "return" in this trade. We have positional needs greater than WR where we can redeploy the dollars.
It doesn’t seem like a good return for Cooks, but they failed to get a 3rd for him at deadline, and I think getting a 3rd or 4th and paying some of that salary is worse than a 5th and getting all the money back in my opinion.
I’m very glad with the Texans moves today. i liked Cook, but he had checked out of the team mentally (so he needed to be moved), and the Texans created valuable cap space to continue to add free agents that can fill up holes.
