Injuries happen and I'm a fan of baseball more than anything. Baseball needs the WBC as it creates real excitement back home and helps continue the international talent pool. Look at how the international talent has changed baseball over the past few years. I think what makes the Astros a juggernaut in this period versus others is our ability to recruit good international talent. That wasnt available in the 80s and 90s. Wbc is a great event and helps grow baseball. The mexican media is hooked right now to baseball and the WBC is a huge effin deal back home. Do you know how many young mexicans might start playing baseball now? We need to think big as baseball fans if we truly love the game which I surely do.
Hensley should start at 2b. That officially seals the deal on Dubon being on the roster for backup SS. Dirden was always probably going down to AAA, but now it’s for sure. If Hensley really struggles with the bat, Brown needs to hit the trade market for a utility player with a decent bat. It’d be nice if we had Diaz at this point, but I agreed with letting him go with his injury history. The sky isn’t falling, but Dubon as an everyday severely weakens our lineup.
At least they won it all in 2022. Without cheating. That's good enough for me no matter what happens this season. WBC? Could care less about it. Good luck Altuve on recovering.
If there was no WBC, Altuve would have been playing spring training games and could just as easily have gotten hit on the hand there too.
Let's look as this as an opportunity to have him rest for the playoffs. I think we now need to trade for a starting 2B for the time being
Seems like the perfect time to call up Will Wagner. He held his own this spring. Played AA last year. The exact recipe for the type of guy the Braves have been calling up super early recently.
