I’m not suggesting a casual link. The reason there are a select number of players who are afforded those 3 levels of opportunity is because that opportunity is almost always reserved for the best players in the league.

KPJ is in one of the rare scenarios where he has been afforded those levels of opportunity while not being one of the best players in the league.

I absolutely think Nix could average near 18/5/5 if you gave him those 3 levels of opportunity without any concern of efficiency or winning.

And I absolutely think you’re nuts. Nix would not average anything near 18/5/5. This kind of nonsense is getting out of hand.

It's unbelievable to me how people can throw crap like, "I guarantee X player would average Y if given Z opportunity." Like, how can you even disprove that? It's like talking to a conspiracy nut -- just because I can't absolutely disprove your ridiculous, unproveable scenario doesn't mean it's not ridiculous.

    lol this is crazy talk.

1 guy who doesn’t vs all the others who do meet those baseline numbers with that opportunity and it totally dismantles my argument?

Time of possession is meaningless…. So it’s just coincidence that EVERY SINGLE PLAYER with the ball in their hands at least 5 minutes per game averages at least 5 assists other than 1 lone player….

If he shouldn't it's only because he would be making the right decision more often and not getting credit for a swing pass etc

    That's true

But we can say , hey the guy that is getting the opportunity has led us to the worst record in the NBA in back to back years .

    There's no disproving that either

Anyone out of Green, Sengun, Bari, Eason, KJ, Garuba, even Christopher would look good on a vet contender Bucks, Boston, Philly, Cleveland or even one of the NY teams.

What they don't want is a head case.

Yeah, now I see what you're looking at, on NBA.com. You're literally looking at the ONE stat where KPJ is high (TOP) and the one stat that statemuse doesn't track (because it's not very meaningful), and extrapolating based upon that. You've basically limited the universe to ten players. I'll play that game, but I'll use your original assertion (5 minutes per game). A ton of guys on this list don't average better than 18/5/5 -- in fact, I'd venture that MOST players who average greater than 5 minutes TOP per game don't average better than 18/5/5. Hell, the good majority of the players don't average more than 5 rebounds a game, and many average fewer PPG than KPJ (Chris Paul, Dimwiddie, Tre Jones, Mike Conley, Fultz, Westbrook, Russell, Hayes, Wall, etc.). But hey, keep saying that 18/5/5 (which KPJ is scoring better than) is some sort of "baseline." It's not. And the fact that you think a guy like Nix would averaging anywhere near that if put in a similar situation as KPJ shows you're blind.

Disagree on green . Maybe if you just bring him off the bench to see if he's hot.

He's so bad on D and I can't blame KPJ there

Say what you will about KPJ, but no one disrespects Nix while I'm around.

Could you please link to your results? The players below average more than 30mpg, 14+ shot attempts, and 5+ minutes time of possession, but do NOT average 5 rebounds per game.

    Damian Lillard
    Tyrese Haliburton
    Darius Garland
    De'Aaron Fox
    Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
    Fred VanVleet
    Trae Young
    Jalen Brunson
    Terry Rozier
    Spencer Dinwiddie
    CJ McCollum
    Devin Booker
    Bradley Beal
    Afernee Simons

You have to look where those teams are.

If he gets coached well and given less minutes, his D might get better while you keep hiding his deficiency.

So you think Nix is better than Jalen Green..... because he can't.

Or.... you could just admit that reality and the narrative you want to push are incongruous

He's not going to respond to you. He's purposefully ignoring a third of the stat spread he referred to as "baseline."

Wow - didnt think there was anyone left on Nix island. I guess there were a handful of people in the bathroom while Nix played...I would be shocked if Nix were on any NBA team's rotation a year from now. That being said I think he can still have a very fruitful pro career playing overseas - he's not a bad player, he's just not quite up to NBA standards...but dude can make a decent career earnings for himself in other leagues.

There's a reason why KPJ detractors have such difficulty finding good counter-examples. Haters can claim that any player could average 18/5/5 on better than .55%, but it's just not true, particularly when you're discussing players under 23 years old. The fact is that KPJ scores better than most pass-first guards, passes better than most scoring-first guards, and rebounds better than most guards, period.
