To be fair, he's the governor of Ohio, and the Tourists are in NC.

Nice showing for Dauri Lorenzo today as he's 2-3 with a double and a run scored.

As always spring has me way overly optimistic about all of Houston’s prospects.

Thanks for the update on him. Beside some throwing live batting practice to teammates. I couldn't find anything on him.
Wasnt he supposed to be better than pretty much everyone in our starting rotation?
Before the multiple surgeries I mean.

Looks bad but that is federal funds and not state funds so probably ethically ok with no moral hazard?

Wow you can actually see the ride on that second pitch, looks like it’s going to end up exactly where the hitter swings and is a solid 6 inches up. Kid is plenty young with time to learn how to locate that electric fastball.

Would be the most Astros thing ever if the organization started the fascination with this type of fastball spin and arm angle to pair with it.

The Astros have been one step ahead of Major League Baseball since 2015. Results may vary, but organizationally, they are walking up on a decade of being the best in baseball with a close second between the Rays and Dodgers.

Going to kill all those Dodger/Yankee fans when we dominate the next decade as well.

The Ullola post got me looking at A ball stats and I was surprised to see a 2022 7th round pick (A.J. Blubaugh) had a higher SwStr% than Ullola last year although over a much smaller sample (13 IP vs 72 IP). Still impressive for a 7th round nobody in their first exposure to full season ball.

Blubaugh is def one to watch. Could be a very fast mover.

So how bad was Leon at 2B?

He's got potential for sure, but he's well behind Javier at that stage.

Javier had the dominant slider to go with his FB and even then there were questions if he could make it as a two-pitch pitcher (and if he would be able to stick as starter).

Ullola needs to get his FB command down and either take a big leap on his slider or refine his curveball/change-up offerings. Right now he's much more a 1-pitch pitcher.

I doubt he is playable over the impending Dubon/Hensley platoon. Profar signed today, too…so I think they split reps and hopefully Jose is ready by ASB or hopefully sooner. Hopefully the rest of our lineup can hold it down until he gets back. AL West is improved, so will it will not be as seamless as years past.

    Start Hensley at 2nd.

Dubon will be the late inning defensive replacement at 2nd (instead of CF).

Leon will be the late inning defensive replacement in CF.

Dirden looks more likely than Leon to make the team.

I agree. I think wherever Leon goes he has to play. He has missed enough time already in his development. He can't be in Houston and just riding the bench. He needs ABs.

If called up, Leon will only be up while Altuve is out ... so ... 40-50 games.

People keep throwing this 40-50 games out there like it is 2 weeks. That 50 games is exactly 1/3rd of the AAA season (54 games is for the majors). That is a huge chunk of time. That is roughly 150 AB he won't get (will probably get some abs in Houston but would probably get more than 150 in AAA). He needs all of the ABs that he can possibly get. They make promotions from level to level after about 200 AB.

They won't call Leon up for Altuve, but if they are calling him up for Altuve, it would be to play 2B such that he would get PAs.
