We're still pretty thin at... IOL, CB/S, RB, LB and Edge.

We could use a starting TE, a WR1 (if/when Cooks leaves), a starting C and oh yeah a QB1. I'd love to get a rookie DE to rotate with Hughes.

Fill them at 1-12 and 2-33 and you've atleast developed one dominate side of the ball and use the rest of the draft to get a center and an upgrade at TE if you want to develop a physical style of football team.

I might even do this if say Van Ness/Simpson were the picks in the 1st/2nd rd.

Trade back into the 2nd using 3-73 and 4-103 for Schmitz and draft LaPorta at 3-64.

    Offense
    QB's Young/Mills/Keenum

    WR's Woods/Collins/Metchie/Brown/Rodgers/Moore

    TE's La Porta/Quitariano/Akins/Howard

    RB's Pierce/Boone/Roschaun Johnson

OT's Howard/Tunsil/Heck/Late rd pick, I like Connor Galvin

    OG's Green/Mason/ Forsythe/Bass

    C's Schmitz/Forsythe

    QB1 = Young, I dont like it but that's what's gonna happen.

They can get their TE in the 3rd rd in this draft.

Gotta draft a starting C, it's the biggest need on the team. IMHO (Maybe draft a C/OG for IOL depth purposes in the 4-5th rd.) I know they dont have a 5th but they do have the picks to trade up if needed.

LB's I can see Simpson being the pick at 2-33. But would rather draft Campbell.

Edge- That's probably going to be the pick at 1-12 or 2-33. I dont trust Greenard to stay healthy.

WR- They take one late in the draft probably, otherwise they wouldn't have signed 2 FA WR's. IMHO

Never understood one day contracts. No one who actually followed JJ is going to actually say he retired as a Texan. His last game was as a Cardinal.

    Someone please explain the difference.

He played the majority of his career in Houston, so out of respect to the organization and the fans, the one day contract is an act of solidarity, "I'm yours forever". And as a nod to that act, we're all going to pretend the last two seasons didn't happen.

    I'm yours

I played the last 2 seasons for the money

I helped get rid of BOB before I left

    I'm a Texan for life

Call me crazy... Cooks for Hopkins straight up?

I'm not an expert but my understanding is that all future bonus hits this year (19 million) but we're relieved of the base (18, 13).

The Cardinals have a cap hit of 30.75 million on Hopkins. They would save 19.4 in base but 11 million in future bonuses hit.

So my rough understanding would be dealing Cooks would turn a 26.4 million cap hit into about 16 million because Arizona is paying his 18 million this year and 13 the following.

So we save about 10 million.

Acquiring Hopkins would be a base salary of 19.4 and 14.9.

So it would cost us about 9-10 million in cap space.

Cooks deal is fully guaranteed while Hopkins could be cut after a year is my understanding so that saves 13 million in 2024 cap space.

Maybe because of us taking on more cap space in 2023 and Arizona being at a wash we can get a 5th rounder out of them?

If they cut Hopkins they save about 8 million in cap space. So they may prefer that. .

I think they view Hopkins as a low character guy who was suspended for 6 games last year for PED’s. I think we keep Cooks if we can’t get a 3 for him. If you keep Cooks you actually have a pretty decent receiving corp for a rookie QB.

My new improved plan because Nick C don't listen

    Trades
WR Cooks + 3-73 to CAR for LB Brandon Smith + 2-36
    6-203 to IND for C Ryan Kelly + 7-221
Claim WR Denzel Mims when waived by Jets
LB Kirksey to WSH for LB Shaka Toney
Conditional 2024 7th to CLE for G/T Joe Haeg

    Draft
1-2 QB C.J. Stroud, OH St.
    1-12 RB Bijan Robinson, TX
    2-33 TE Washington, UGA
    2-36 Edge Ade Adeboware, NWN
3-65 CB Cory Trice Jr., Purdue
    4-104 IOL Jon Gaines, UCLA
    5-104 from SEA (for 6-188 + 6-201) LB Yasir Abdullah, L'ville
    6-207 from NYJ (for 7-221 + 7-230) WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton, WVU

I don't disagree but I think Hopkins may be different with Demeco in the room. NC wasn't around when Hop was a problem seems like it was more of a BOB issue since we heard nothing prior his whole career.

Just thinking buy low candidate. If they cut him I would not mind Hopkins in slot for 1st down and red zone situations. May be enough to kick can on drafting WR...

I wouldn’t mind signing him on the cheap if he is released, but I’m not giving up Cooks for his PED using ass.

Why because he said he wanted to be traded from a re-building team? He has not been a bad teammate and he will play well if we keep him. I only trade him for a 3rd or another player of equal worth (OL especially a center would be good).

It's the pick and cap savings big enough for a starter at another position.
