It bans more than surgeries, so can’t assume Biden’s objection to it is specifically regarding surgeries. Though it is interesting that people seem to be OK with breast-altering surgeries for girls when it’s not done as gender affirming care. If a girl wants breast implants or reduction surgery and can get parental consent, it’s permitted. Where’s the outrage there?
Nope. You can't ban what isn't ever done. Kids do not get those surgeries. Period. So let's have an honest and transparent discussion here commodore, because how you respond here will say a lot to me about how genuine you are being in your debate here - whether you are being sincere or just parroting talking points. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt to start. Florida banned surgeries that don't happen. That's not what is cruel or sinful - that ban is just to make a political statement to drum up votes and make DeSantis popular. But what they also banned was any kind of gender affirming care - including hormone treatment. And that is what Biden is calling sinful and cruel. And it is cruel. Ridiculously so.

It would be funny if Biden clarified that he only thought outlawing puberty blockers and hormone therapy was cruel, but outlawing surgeries is fine.

Any bans against gender affirming care should be applied consistently. That is, even when the treatment or procedure is not for a trans kid. Are we banning use of puberty blockers for everyone, or just for trans youth who are otherwise at very high risk of suicide as determined by their parents and health care team?
