I'm not a fan of Buttrey. I appreciate him making the effort to come back to baseball and try to have this feel good story, but I'm just not sure he has what it takes to make this team.
Arrighetti looking pretty sharp in his first appearance. Thrown 18 fastballs so far and none have been put in play.
At this point, I think Meyers needs to earn his way back up. He has shown no power since the injury. We should bring Dirden to be our 4th outfielder. He's just better at this point.
MLB.com scouting report says he's in the upper 90s now but the radar gun today was showing 92-93mph. Hoping the velo increases throughout the season
I've heard 92-96, not upper 90s. He had a 35 CSW% in this game sitting 92 so if that's 2-3 mph off his typical average then I think that would bode well for his future performance assuming he can get the velo back.
Astros Future mentioned he had hit 98mph and somewhere else I think I read he had hit 99. Just hoping we found another beast for the bullpen
Was that in a game or at a training facility? Hopefully he gets a few more appearances this spring, but if anything he should see the PCL this season which has Statcast.
Rumor has it Strom has been working his magic on Solomon this spring, and Solomon is throwing 95 mph with movement. 40-man issues may keep him out of the pen to start the season, but he may be a beast in the DBacks pen later in the year if he can stay healthy.
The D.R. pool in the WBC was Major League level competition, going back to playing against Spring Training invitees must be like child's play for Pena. I think he's ready for the season, if anybody that hates the WBC is looking for a benefit, there's one right there.
I'm glad our golden boy Pena is back with the Astros unscathed. This was pretty funny from his sister
