Dude you are incapable of defending your premises. You just state them and run away. Actually explain the absurdity. And if the absurdity in your eyes boils down to "how do we determine who is African American" then you are greatly exaggerating the absurdity. You want the debate to narrow in scope to this one random policy in one city but will not discuss the entire concept of reparations and whether African Americans deserve it or not because you don't want to go there.
Dude at this point either stop clicking the "show posts of ignored members" button or whatever it's called or stop being passive aggressive and just reply directly to me dude. It's kinda sad. There already exists a racial hierarchy And that racial hierarchy was built off stolen land and racist markets that denies Blac families accumulation of property and assets especially during a period right after WW2 where land and homeownership was the most affordable in modern American history.
At this point the most popular hobby in this country is looking for absolutely meaningless things to get outraged about. Multiple threads a day about some liberal internet rando or a proposal that will never be given any real attention.
The amount of historic injustices which you could argue require remuneration or other compensation are pretty countless.
Yea, we basically waged a war of aggression and stole (forced a treaty on Mexico) California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada... etc.. Should we give back those lands? Should we give the Indians their land back too? Where does HTM get to live?
Hola, my Theresa, I am thinking of you now in San Francisco I have no money in my pocket, I no longer have your good luck framed in gold I buried it last evening with the bones of my beloved Del Cielo And I'll not return to buy the land Pancho Villa stole from father long ago.
Maybe. But clearly blacks and native Americans have had the most injustice by the US government and state governments against them. Why would we be concerned about injustices perpetrated by other countries? Like the Roman Empire? I think if Conservatives were more supportive of helping the poor then there wouldn’t be a big push for “reparations”. Instead conservatives are actively trying to destroy the programs meant to help the poor.
Conservatives are actively trying to remove protections on Native Americans and their lands in 2023….. Why would y’all do that?
What other groups have suffered similar injustices? What other groups would you include? Japanese? Irish? Chinese? My parents grew up in Jim Crow so that was still only a generation away.
You posited what we should about the Native Americans…. Just letting you know y’all are currently trying to the Native Americans.
I personally don’t believe in reparations…. I think a lot could be solved by simply investing in communities and a stronger floor for welfare. However conservatives don’t want to do reparations or invest in communities or make welfare stronger.
It isn't about race purity it is about lineage from slavery. That was based in race but it is very far from Nazi ideology. Weren't you recently complaining about unwarranted comparisons to Nazis? Now you're doing it.
https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/fiscal-fact/median-value-wealth-race-ff03112019 There are historic injustices and then there are historic injustices that have direct impact on material conditions for millions of people based on their race as we speak today. It's not as hard as you think it is to determine which groups of Americans got ****ed over the most in the 20th century. This seems like a weak argument.
What did the US government promise? Was there also institutionalized policies to deny people promised material resources from the government equal access to opportunities?
So can you answer the question? In your world, what percentage of racial lineage from slavery is good enough for reparations?
I mentioned direct dec I mentioned direct ancestory. That means maternal or paternal going backwards to slavery.
