The home assistance makes the most sense given the effects of redlining: We can have a discussion on the merits if you want. An actual discussion. But I'm not sure you are willing to discuss this beyond the click bait surface level.
@pgabriel @Reeko @Jontro Let’s go to California become residents Get that money And then move to Texas so we don’t get taxes on our reparations
I want an anti-wokeist to have a discussion about repressions. I want someone like ATW to actually discuss the solutions to things like redlining and the thousands of acres of farm land stolen from black families over the past century and a half that amounts to over a billion dollars of stolen property that would have been generational wealth and property passed down and significantly altering the current conditions of wealth in the Black community.
Man can people have a discussion about this than spamming junk food YouTube videos? Tinman go back to your retirement home. They are looking for you.
We know that when emancipation happened every single freed person was guaranteed by our government 40 acres and a mule. That promise wasn't delivered. How much would that be worth today had the land been in ownership for that long. A mule then served roughly the same purpose as a pickup truck now. How much would 40 acres today be worth? Obviously that would vary depending on location. 40 Acres anywhere near San Francisco would extremely valuable. My issue is giving reparations to people that aren't direct descendants of emancipated individuals from the civil war.
So you agree with this proposal if someone is a direct descendant "of emancipated individuals from the civil war"?
I'm not sure how they arrived at the figures of money they are talking about. What I do believe is that the government should live up to its promises
Exactly. Because a direct decedent of slaves, experienced two major periods of a loss of wealth accumulation due to abject racist systems and that's the stealing of farm land that was promised with the local law enforcement in that era siding with the people who stole the land and redlining that occured during the suburban housing boom right after WW2 where black families were denied mortgages even with equal qualifications as white families who were approved because the market was racist and banks denied loans because they knew a black family buying said property would reduce the value of the property and banks didn't want to take the hit.
Btw just to be clear about some word usage. Pretty much 100% of "African Americans" are decedents of American Black slaves. Any immigrant from Africa that came after that wasn't part of that system are just labeled by the country of their origin like "Nigerian American" just like most other immigrants(Irish American, Vietnamese American etc)
Did your ancestors being enslaved in Rome have effects of your family wealth accumulation like your grandfather being denied a mortgage because of the color of their skin?
Hey if you weren't born and raised in a family that didn't have to live pay check to paycheck to pay for rent and didn't have any property handed over to you after your parents death because your granddad was denied a mortgage because of their skin color, go for it. You are owed property due to past racial transgressions.
