Well since all the decent centers are off the FA board barring a trade we'll be drafting one next month.
I like Schmitz but I'm just not sure he's quite the mover needed for the zone- blocking scheme.
I KNOW Tippman is though and can probably be had later than JMS.

I've been debating what to do with #12.
I no longer want a receiver like Quentin Richardson or JSN there.
I think we can get similar value later.
Receivers I like (in no particular order) are:
    Jaylin Hyatt
    Cedric Tillman
    AT Perry
    Nathaniel Dell
    Jayden Reed
    Jonathan Mingo
    Tyler Scott
    Jalen Moreno Cropper.
If we trade B. Cooks I'd like to draft 2-3 of those.

Until we traded for Shaq Mason I was leaning towards drafting Peter Skoronski at #12 since he's been dropping a bit in mocks.
He would make AN AWESOME ZB guard for the next 15 years.
But not now after the Mason trade I think.

We DEFINITELY need to add a top quality rb this draft.
I know everyone loves Achane and I like him too but I'd rather grab Israel Abanikanda if there in the 3rd.
Has almost the top end speed of Achane with the same quick acceleration and MUCH, MUCH more power between the tackles!

As of right now my draft would go:
    1-2 Bryce Young

1-12 (trade down to 20-25 range, pick up 3rd and 5th's) and then

1-23 Jaylin Hyatt or Dalton Kincaid (TE)

2-2 Calijah Kancey (if gone Nolan Smith, Will McDonald IV or Derrick Hall)

3rd round I take Joe Tippman, Israel Abanikanda and Sam LaPorta.

If a top corner like Deonte Banks or DJ Turner falls I might replace LaPorta with him though.

I love Drew Sanders and I'm hoping he falls to the top of the 2nd, but would be happy with him at 12. Nolan Smith is a phenomenal athlete, I'm just not sure what his position would be in Demco's defense, he would be an absolute weapon as would be Sanders though. I'm out on Carter, he was my #1, but leaving folks you know at a crash site isn't the kind of dude I want in the trenches.

Speaking of who I'd share a foxhole with and my target at #12...

Lukas Van Ness, 6'5" / 272 / 34" arms / 11" hand; 40spd: 4.58... kid is only 21 and I believe is going to go Top 15. We need a dynamic edge that can play the run and also rush the passer. He's still developing and looks like an absolute beast.

Watson is the franchises best. Other than him Stroud would be better than any other qb if he turned out to be Goff

So Goff is average? 29/7 last season with over 4400 yds without a true #1 wr

There's a reason McVay moved on from him.

BTW, St. Brown is very much a WR1. IMHO

Nick doing little to nothing in FA is putting way too much pressure on this draft. It’s a big mistake that he’s still operating in last year’s lens.

We simply cannot take a QB and start that clock. We’ve done nothing to prep that player to be successful in what we’re doing in free agency.

Yeah this dude is definitely intriguing...I'm actually concerned he might be gone by #12.

No, Schaub is the franchise best. Watson might be the most talented.
Stroud isn’t much more talented than Schaub

Deshaun coulda been the franchise best.

Regardless, Strouds upside is Goff. He’s more likely to be Haskins

I know it's been a quiet free agency, and likely will stay that way, but I think Nick has actually done a decent job.

When you look at his signings, you can start to see a vision, which is the first time I can say that. We got Niners players on two levels (really wish we had gotten Al Shaiir) to help acclimate the defense. We got another pretty good piece on the line (need the center). We got two pretty good blockers at WR. We got a guy that can be a Kyle Jusczyk-type fullback.

Yes, none of these were sexy moves, but you can start to see that Kubiak/Shanahan offense start to form. You have some vets of the system on defense.

I get that we went cheap and short term contracts, but I wouldn't expect anything different from Caserio from here on out. That's how he'll operate, IMO.

Shorter contracts gives you a chance to see who fits your vision, and gives the players incentive to play well. If they work, re-sign them. If not, cut bait.

He's had some things he didn't get done (pass rushers, center, corner, namely), but I think he's done alright. And I'm no Caserio apologist.

My problem with is? Exactly what happened this off-season. Someone like Ogbo Okoronkwo looked like someone that could make a big impact but we didn’t re-sign him. Is this going to happen next off-season? Then the next?

Yeah, I could see him going in this range--DET--LAS--ATL. He's an athletic freak who has all of the traits and looked dominant on film. A wildcard is ARZ if we take Will Anderson vs a QB at #2.

    I agree. Big miss there.

There was a report that came out before he signed with Cleveland saying he wasn't coming back. Seems there's more to that story.

I loved Ogbo and his return home. I was in the resign him camp, but I can see that maybe his lack of size may have not fit with DeMeco's defensive plans. Last year was also an outlier from a career perspective. Have to think that if Coach Ryans really wanted him, we could have got something done.

burrow was in an innovative never before seen offensive system designed by joe brady. He had 60 passing tds passing to the likes of current all-pros jamarr chase and justin jefferson. I believe if you put cj stroud in burrows same situation that he would have put up 50-52 td passes as well. On damn great effiency.

My point was every nfl scout thought burrow was also a finished product when it came to the draft. But the hype surrounding his season made it impossible for a team to select another qb over him. I believe cj stroud has burrow ability, if put in the right system, the only difference between stroud and burrow in college was that burrow used his legs a bit more, but stroud in the georgia game showed he also has underrated mobility

its true, thats what todd mcshay, trevor siekma and pretty much every nfl scout was saying about burrow at the time. They were calling him a one year wonder, and questioned why he transferred from ohio state, plus his injury history

i can pull up the articles if you want me too
