I try to stay out of political threads but you know these two states were created after slavery was abolished, right? Sometimes I think Bernie bros just say stuff to see if anyone is paying attention.

On November 2, 1889? Nearly 24 years after the 13th Amendment was ratified?

Did you just google slavery and Dakota and quote a random article without reading it? That article says that the southern border of Kansas was set without needing to follow the Mason-Dixon line, and therefore was set slightly further north, which allowed for 4 other states to be created at an arbitrarily equal height, except that North Dakota's border with South Dakota instead follows a natural boundary line that doesn't correspond to equal height. In other words, the border between the two had nothing at all to do with slavery.

And your initial point was that the Dakotas were admitted to further promote slavery, which was proven untrue. And now you continue to correlate the two, citing an article that does not advance your initial point even slightly. It's all very disingenuous.

In the late 19th C and early 20th C the Dakotas politically were Progressive, Populist and even Socialist. They supported many anti-corporate policies that @glynch might support such as nationalizing railroads.

Yeah, but their 4 senators giving them vastly more power in two of the national branches of government, the Supremes and the Senate are a glaring example of how we have an underlying structure that bakes in obstacles to a country in which everyone's vote. Of course some folks like this.

Hey, as you say you stay out of political threads so you should tank me for dragging you away from your usual interests. First time I think I have ever noticed you as a poster.
