he whipped himself into the best shape of his career to play alongside Embiid this year for a realistic chance for the chip.

He comes to Houston next season, he has no such motivation to stay in that kind of shape. I think we saw the first time around how he can get lazy and let himself go, weight-wise.

I'm skeptical. I'm not totally against the idea, I'm just not sure this is the wisest course of action. Plus I still think he's making noise to keep the pressure on Daryl and the Sixers

I agree with all of this, but again, what else are we going to do with all that cap space? None of the other options seem better to me than even a fat Harden...sadly. I think what we need is a competent point guard who can make everyone else better. I don't see that out there. Unless we go for someone like Tyus Jones via trade.

he has motivation to stay in shape because he knows at his age he can no longer be out of shape and play at a really high level or avoid injury

prime Harden could be at Turkey Leg Hut all summer, miss training camp, and then drop 44 and 17 in his 1st game…current Harden does the same and he’ll be looking like last season and injure his hamstring again

honestly I'd rather see us throw a smaller chunk of change at a real PG (which Harden still sadly is not) who can play defense and shoot from outside. Someone like Fred VanVleet or Bruce Brown maybe

But van Vleet's FG % is pretty terrible. And Bruce Brown barely gets any assists?

What would we do with all the remaining cap space? I don't have the answer either, I just think the timing of us having tons of cap space is...unfortunate.

Harden not a PG? How ridiculous is that? Harden is leading the league in assists.

    Play him at PG? @hakeem94

He would average a triple double. (maybe even a quadruple double, if you count turnovers lol)

    Sengun Only Haters would faint.

    PG: Sengun (6'10)
    SG: Green (6'4)
    SF: Tari (6'8)
    PF: Wemby (7'5)
    C: Jabari (6'11)

I get it. But he's better alongside a Chris Paul than working solo imo

No ****? CP3 is called the Point God for a reason. Any guard would be better next to CP3 than not. Doesn't make Harden not a PG though.

Yes, next to arguably the 2nd best PG of all time, but he is a PG and has been for years when not playing with CP3.

    which one? :p

I stand by the original claim, I think it's a big risk to throw $200+ million at Harden

you know what, I'd actually throw money at PJ Tucker before I threw it at Harden.

    there's a take for you :D

The one that said Harden was not a PG. To a certain extent, I do agree that throwing $200M+ at Harden is a risk. I also believe there is no realistic alternative that is better. People complaining about it have not offered any sort of better alternative.
