Calm down... a lot of these big deals go bad quick and cripple your cap space.

Talent obviously matters a lot but so does scheme fit and coaching... look what happened to Asomugha when he went to Philly...

Criticize in hindsight... it's NC job to guess future performance correctly, not just pay guys based on what they did.

    This isn’t true.

Clowney was the consensus #1 overall prospect that year and would’ve gone 1st overall no matter who was picking. Your claim is revisionist nonsense.

Also, we didn’t draft Deshaun to put butts in the seats, but rather because we had spent several consecutive seasons in trash-QB limbo from FitzMagic to Hoyer/Mallet, to Osweiler. It was about fixing the most important position in the sport and, thusly, it was about winning. And, his terrible character and proclivity for non-consensual sex acts aside, Deshaun was quite talented. He was good for us before he showed his true colors and quit on the city. There is a reason we got 6 picks for him and he got the largest guaranteed contract in NFL history, while dealing with sexual assault allegations and missing a year.

So, neither of these examples furthers your point at all, and to act like they do is disingenuous.

Saw somebody else posted their FA wishlist.

Here is my remaining FAs wish list (now that we have secured Jimmie)
    - WR Darius Slayton
    - C Garrett Bradbury or C/G Jake Brendel (SF) (hopefully both)
    - SAM Samson Ebukam (SF)
    - IDL Trysten Hill
    - LB Leighton Vander Esch best remaining MLB IMHO
    - CB Emmanuel Moseley (SF)

Clownery was not a consensus #1.

    We view Watson quite differently.

Yes, Clowney the was. If anything, your erroneous hypothesis would be furthered if we had taken Johnny Football instead of going with the consensus number 1 guy.

How you view Deshaun is irrelevant. He is self-evidently highly viewed by the league and your personal opinion of him doesn’t further your “butts in the seats over good football decisions” point at all.

There was a lot of discussion about Bortles or Mack going #1 at the time.

I'm not going to talk about the Sexual predator anymore.

Watson, at the time, was a great draft pick for the Texans. I don't like the guy, but who could've known he would become a hack and predator once he got his money?

Clearly the Texans made the right pick then.

Good now sign a C and if Green can reach his potential the line should be very, very good.
