Lol I'll give you that but baseball isn't on soccer's world popularity level. If baseball's popularity can grow you will see less of that. Israel and GB and Italy etc are filler teams. It's basically Japan, US and the Latin American countries. Baseball actually has a foothold there. Early WC was basically south America and Europe. Have to start somewhere.
These teams will get weeded out after pool play and most definitely by the quarterfinals. Excluding USA, almost of all the Latin and Asian countries have all homegrown line-ups outside of one player at most.
Pena is drawing walks but I really want him to get his first hit already..especially with everyone else on Team DR flossing.
Even "Latin America" is pushing it, Baseball ends where America's direct influence (prior to WW2) ended, The Carribbean Basin. Not a lot of Argies or Brazillians playing ball.
I’m hearing its his achilles? That’s going to affect him long-term. Please Astros players in the WBC, do NOT celebrate.
Did not expect the DR to get knocked out in the group stage, thought they had the best roster all-around in the tourney. Come on America, down to Columbia?
Except he has barely even played “when it counts” there would be no NBA equivalent since more than half the NBA teams make the playoffs… But this may be the closest he gets to experiencing a playoff like atmosphere and elimination games where every pitch matters. He’s done well so far.
Mets fans ready to burn down the WBC. Im sure we’d all feel the same if Bryan Abreu tore something as he’s literally throwing the fastest he’s ever thrown in this tournament… but when you see these teams celebrating (esp Altuve/Venezuela), these players are as happy as ever…. Altuve may even say winning this with his fellow countrymen will be right up there with all the playoff/WS wins.
