He will come in as a veteran presence for Bryce Young to learn from in meetings. He won't start, but what a tremendous influence for Young to emulate in terms of professionalism and leadership. It's a solid signing I think.
As long as he never has to play, which I'm betting he's going to have to play. How about using the 7 mil spent today on a S or LB that can start for you. In typical Texans fashion they went as cheap as possible on the QB position.
Yeah but you equate drafting young with the McNairs not prioritizing winning, which is pure conjecture and, frankly, nonsense. You cannot see the future, and your opinion on Bryce Young is in the minority. Yet you’re throwing a fit here about every move we make or don’t make. Chill out, my guy.
And when he inevitably gets hurt and misses a game at some point, you're going to play this game, using it to justify your bizarre evaluation of BY and forgetting that every single QB in the NFL gets hurt.
The notion that the Texans have done everything they can to choose storylines is rebutted by a ton of picks they made over the years…most notably, picking Mario Williams over VY.
Weird take... have the Texans really been THAT cheap with QBs over the years? I would argue they've given too much money out at times. I agree that letting Oko go would be a downgrade. Were you hoping for Garrapolo?
If he’s a bust then I will call him a bust. But Bryce is that guy and will change this entire franchise
5 sacks last year. Chase has done more over his career, and that’s including an injury plagued 2021. They’re the exact same age and similar types of players.
They haven't even drafted Young yet, I'm just giving my opinion on what I think is the best case scenario for Young. I disagree with the people you agree with. Why? because History tells me what I should think about drafting a midget. You guys can choose to ignore history if you wish. 2 QB's in the last 15 years Young's size have been drafted, none in the 1st rd. There's a reason for this. Also tell me are you honestly excited about the street FA's they've spent 7 million on? Are you saying filling the stands isn't the most important thing to the McNairs? If so you haven't invested in the Texans franchise like I have over the last 2 decades.
Bryce Young might be the best in a bad QB class. Yes the pundits are hyping him because teams need QBs. That does not mean it is a good QB class. It isn't. That's like me really needing a car and having to decide between and 88 Cavilier, 86 Escort, and a Yugo.
On one hand we’re not making a splash…but on the other we’re just trying to fill seats? That doesn’t make sense. If they were just interested in fans they’d be all about the splash…the big name. I’ve been a fan of the Texans every bit as long as you have. I disagree with you, because I don’t see it. I recall draft parties where the picks were booed. I recall going with anything other than the fan favorite or the sexy choice in free agency and the draft. In fact, I more often see people talk about how boring they are for never chasing those guys that fans want.
