The way fans accept basketball players on roids, it's not even taboo. Chris Paul & co/NBPA might get their way in the CBA some day.

Based on this Bron should be acquitted of roid charges. He has been the healthiest dude the last 20 yrs never missed games and even when he did its due to groin and ankle injuries..

I dunno if Bron roided or not but I know he slimmed down when he went back to Cleveland. If you're slimming down do you use roids? I thiught that was supposed to make you bigger lol.

Being roided doesnt really do much for you nowadays in bball ever since they got rid of handchecks and implemented no contact rules. It's a skill based league I mean WB gets laughed at and dude is extremely jacked.

Yes, you can say "they're rich, who cares, they can just stop using them and/or retire" about the really good players, but what about the guys who claw and scrape and work their @sses off for a minimum contract and are counting on money from the league to support their families after their handful of prime years are over? What about players in the G-League who are fighting just to get to the NBA at all and trying to compete with a bunch of players on roids?

The NBA is a source of hope for some of these athletic kids who are trying to scrape their way out of poverty, I think it's kinda messed up to essentially force them onto PEDs if they want to have a chance.

that's because modern performance enhancing drugs are not just "roids" that make people muscular as hell.

At the highest level, PED mainly helps with recovery, endurance and avoiding injuries. It's also about gaining lean body mass in a short amount of time without gaining fat.

When you get up in age, you play 38 minutes of highly physical basketball, your body will take much much longer to recover. And when you play when your body has not recovered, you have a higher chance of getting injured.

Certain drugs help you recover much faster, you have more energy to train more the next day, while the person not on PED's might have to take it easy in practice. All that extra recovery, extra hours of training adds up over a course of a season.

The only sports organization that actually did "random" testing was the UFC. Some of their biggest stars all got popped, and none of them looked like body builders. That whole program is now completely neutered because of how many big fights were cancelled.

Even your average NBA player has way more money than the biggest UFC stars, they can probably get even better doctors for their PED needs.

Just helps with stamina n getting jacked up similar to the Giannis transformation and others like D Howard, I saw article yrs ago about Westbrook possibly on some form of PED

They make your bones brittle which is why you see a lot of freak injuries in sports, which other things could play a factor but I will leave that assignment alone

All sports is a skill based operation, being athletic with skill combined is what separates those from the rest of the pack

Westbrook is famous for being athletic while always being in relentless attack mode more so than skill, can't forget the triple double machine it was post KD OKC era

WWE is famous for juicing as well, which to me they are all in the same building just on diff floors

But the whole gist of the argument is taking peds now destroys your body in the future right? Bron's been in the league for decades and has been healthier than 99% of the population.

If Roids dont have any downsides at all then it shouldnt be illegal and should be able to be used by every player in the NBA since its more like a supplement then. If there is a medicine that helps recovery and prevents injuries why shouldnt every athlete in the nba be allowed to use it then?

The first argument is quite dated. I mean there is definitely a plethora of healthy issues that come from abusing steroids like bodybuilders or prowrestlers. But I don't think any top athletes with as much money as NBA players run those risks in this day and age. A lot of PED's can be prescribed by your doctor for injury recovery, and testosterone replacement therapy is not uncommon these days for men over 45.

Lebron being healthy is not really an argument for or against him being on PED's. the NBA doesn't do real testing, so it's only speculations based on what we know in other sports.

I am for the argument the certain PED's should be legal in a sport like the NBA, and in reality it is pretty much legal because nothing is enforced in the league. The NBA will never ever come out and allow PED's because it's a giant PR nightmare. It's basically a don't ask don't tell type of rule.

This is not the UFC where fighters are literally trying to kill eachother, I don't really see any ethical issues with allowing PED's in a sport where it's all about putting a ball into a basket.

I am almost praying someone give Jabari Smith and Jalen Green some Doctor contacts for some secret sauce so they are gain some strength quickly.

There's an argument that you would see more injuries if these guy weren't taking something. a 82 game schedule with that much traveling and back to backs is the hardest thing on the body. A lot of athletes can't recover properly. Injury Rehab is also a b*tch, and certain drugs helps the body heal better.

I would like to think that most of the top performers in the league are all on something, I mean why wouldn't you if they don't really enforce.

    Steroids?

    Remember when:

NBA Legend Don MacLean tested positive and was suspended for steroids,

then 19 years later went on a mindless Clippers broadcast TV rant in midgame on NBATV that James Harden was "cheating the game" by ... running 5-outs & high screens and scoring 36 ppg.
