There are two separate but related things here. The first one is that Fox deliberately misled its audience to benefit themselves, which constitutes classic fraud. Their actions are unethical and completely go against the principles of journalism. The second is that Fox not only lied to its viewers but also conveyed messages that they don't endorse and even despise. Fox holds their audience in low regard by underestimating their intelligence.

People like Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity aren’t journalists. They are commentators. Carlson has already admitted in court filings that he’s playing a character that shouldn’t taken seriously. Even so they have a following and unless they are going to come out and just say this is all for entertainment like the old Colbert Report they are doing a disservice to their viewers.
