Everyone on the Panthers message board seems to think it’s for stroud. And 1 guy who claims to have a friend that works for the Panthers says it’s between Stroud and Levis. maybe the Bryce dream isn’t dead…
Considering what the Panthers gave up to get 1, Poles would have bent the Texans over the table for 1
Would he have? They dropped all the way to 9. Would have been one spot with Houston. Obviously additional picks too but must not be too high on this draft class (or maybe hoping Carter drops, ha.) I’m glad they didn’t trade up but hypothetically, I’d give a 3rd.
Being a fan of both Young and Stroud, I still wanted Young as the first option. But now that the Panthers want Stroud, I want Stroud first! This is the Paolo Banchero situation all over again.
He actually might have still been able to get this deal from the Panthers at 2, assuming they love Stroud and Houston took Young.
My guess right now is that the Panthers want Stroud. They gave up that much because they were afraid of another team trading with the Bears for the #1 pick. Furthermore Bryce Young didn't even throw, it was Stroud that impressed at the Combine and increased his stock so much to where Carolina decided to make the deal.
**** Lovie Smith for real. But thankfully, it wasn't the Colts. I hope the Texans still get their #1 guy.
Lovie going to get a statue in Chicago lol. I have to admit, I'm digging this Chicago rebuild... salary cap and draft picks.
Think you put way more weight on the combine than coaches or GMs Bill Cowher says, a significant portion of a player’s grade is “what he does on tape, not in the ‘Underwear Olympics.’ ”
Maybe so, but Why would you trade up for a guy that has "red flags" like BY's size? You trade up because there is a guy that "checks all the boxes", I think it's more likely that guy is Stroud than Young.
Ryan Poles face has a very punchable look. My gut feeling is that Carolina did not trade all that to get Stroud. Unfortunately I think the Bryce dream is dead.
Makes more sense the Panthers had to give up an extra 1st round pick since they're swapping from #9. No way in hell Texans offered the Bears another 1st rounder to trade up from 1 spot. Texans were interested, but i bet only probably offered a future 2nd or a 2023 3rd rounder.
Still in on Bryce. Said on one of these pages I was warming up to Stroud (and JSN at 12) And don’t forget Will. But nah, Bryce still #1 for me.
