I just added a personal note to my post, and no further comment on the subject at this time.

I never had a desire either. But when I had kids I decided it was probably a good idea to understand them better. Turns out a few of them have been quite therapeutic for me. Nothing hard or habit forming, of course.

As long as you’re making a connection to your kids I don’t think there’s anything too wrong with that in the grand scheme of things - Those are the moments that we will keep close with us rather than our careers or money anyhow

I'm not sure why that's such a far flung concept to you.

The Senate map is really bad for Dems in 2024 and Biden is under water in betting markets.

It's more like I want to be prepared as an authority figure whenever my kids get introduced to drugs and alcohol.

But yeah, getting a little buzzed and playing with my kids is actually quite fun. Allows me to be silly and imaginative and curious with them. An unexpected bonus.

No she wasn't, she was terrible. She looked good to people who have never seen or done a cross-examination. When she was questioning Kavanaugh, she seemed like she was trying to lay an impeachment trap when she was questioning him about speaking with someone from a particular law firm. First she started way too broadly, "Have you ever discussed Muller or his investigation with anyone?" Duh, he is a judge in Washington DC, of course he has. Then Kavanaugh said he doesn't know who works at that law firm. A good prosecutor would provide a list of people that work there and repeat the question. She didn't. She hinted that he knew who she was talking about and it went nowhere.

Has "more security/policing" as a reaction to drugs ever worked?

I feel like we should be beyond that.

Yes he did. He thought he was taking Vicodin but took fentanyl instead.

Also Michael Jackson died from an accidental overdose of opiods. I don’t remember which ones but I don’t think it was Fentanyl.

I was mainly commenting on her presence. She at least appears somewhat natural there compared to her VP-era prepared remarks.

Yes relying upon enforcement hasn’t proven to work. Especially relying on enforcing the Southern Border when from the information @Deckard posted shows they Fentanyl can get here by many sources, along with being manufactured domestically.

If we want to get serious about fentanyl and other drugs we need to do things like improve treatment and better regulate drug purity to prevent counterfeit drugs. Also finding ways to lower the costs of legal prescription drugs will reduce the impetus to rely upon black market drugs with no quality control.

We also need to look at better practices for pain management and mental health.

That is a single clip out of how many gazillions of hours she probably has in similar circumstances as a state actor.

I think she struggles so much because she comes off as insincere with her decision making driven by ambition, not morality or duty.

Rightly or wrongly, it's a very Hillary-esqe vibe.

Yeah she's in her natural habitat as a prosecutor, that much is obvious.

In a debate or on the trail she really, really struggles.

Yes I think this is her main problem. There is something unauthentic about her. Given her history as a prosecutor who is responsible for incarcerating many black Californians she does seem unauthentic when taking about issues of race.

I guess it is better than her other appearances, but that is not a high bar to clear. As a prosecutor, it leaves a lot to be desired. It is like a half-court heave at the end of the period. It would be nice to make it, but it doesn't make the shooter look good to anyone who plays basketball.
I thought it was the best representation of what @dumbartonbass was talking about. Certainly it was the most lauded I have seen in the press.
I think she struggles because she was never that good to begin with. She was well known in California as a social climber that benefitted from her relationship with powerful San Francisco politician Willie Brown. She isn't a charismatic person, nor does she wow anyone with her insight.
