When exactly has he had "power"? And the last 2 seasons he has averaged 8 HRs per 500 ABs. He's already Andrew Benintendi. And the reason I wanted us to sign Benintendi vs Brantley so we could have a longer term solution in LF/DH. What is sapped? 4 HRs per 500 ABs?

People really developed a hard on for slow baseball that was around for only 25 years or so. They revere a brand of sport that literally didn't exist before the mid 90s.
Right? It’s so bizarre. And if it was like college football where the extra 45 minutes of real time resulted in something like 25 or 30 more plays then bully for them. But it’s not! It doesn’t result in a single additional play. It is such a bizarre choice.
It was shorter then because of fewer commercials, fewer pitching changes and fewer mound visits. It had almost nothing to do with time at bat or between pitches. And there were plenty of players getting their hands dirty for grip. But the incessant time out requests were also almost non-existent.
I know that there is no chance Dirden beats out Meyers and McCormick for the CF spot out of spring training, but feel like he could be the first call up in case that position isn’t playing up to par the first couple months of the season. Especially because he bats lefty, seems like a perfect platoon partner for Chas. Granted you will be losing some defensive value. At this point pressure is on Meyers to be back to what he was pre injury, sooner rather than later.
You keep saying this and it was demonstrated to be wrong. Links posted and everything. You are literally subbing in your incorrect opinion against facts as has been shown. Why do you continue to do that? Seriously, stop.

For the record, there was one link posted citing a random fan comparing two random games, the only similarity being the number of pitches thrown in those two games. I read the entire article and found at least two mathematical errors and, in addition to that, the author admitted the more recent game had 10 minutes more in commercial breaks plus 4 minutes in a play under review. The difference then was only around 19 minutes of play for those two "random" games and they were even the exact same duration through the first 6 innings. It has also been posted that the average time between pitches last year was 18.6 seconds, so decreasing that down to 15 seconds with the new rule...ok 3.6x278 pitches you're reducing the game by 15-16 minutes. Great. Not that big of a deal for me. It also should be noted that games on average consist of 23 more pitches thrown than in 1988 (more K's, more walks, more HR), so that is also an extra 6 or 7 minutes. With the home runs, maybe 8 minutes. What was the average # of pitching changes in a game in 1980 compared to 2021? If the difference is 3 or 4 or even 5. That is also an extra 15-25 minutes. I'm not even saying I'm against a pitch clock, but people are making into a seemingly bigger resolution than it is while not taking into consideration the other reasons why games are longer than they used to be.
I think there’s going to be a very solid group of position players in AAA. Dirden has shown well in spring games but Julks, Kessinger, Wagner, Matijevic, and Perez all have looked pretty good as well. There will be pressure on all the unestablished young players on the major league roster to perform. Hensley, Meyers, and whoever the backup catcher is will have guys ready to replace them. Same thing for the bullpen. Whoever gets those 12th and 13th pitcher slots will have a very short leash. I will say I haven’t been all that impressed with the 2 young waiver claims (Madris and Bannon).
That's one example. It's been also written on all over the internet-like everyone whose ever looked at it. And it's conclusively been said that it's more time in between pitches. Most people didn't write as good a blog as that on it which is I'm sure why it was posted. Even in the 60's there was time off (standard at that) in between innings. There is a little more commercial time. There are more pitching changes (mid inning are the only ones that counts) and there is a LOT more deadtime in between pitches that leads to a longer game. It's literally inarguable (at least in good faith).
Since when do "power" and "HR" mean the same thing? Brantley has averaged 56 extra base hits per 162 games in his career, including 62 per 162 games as an Astro. Even in a down year where he "lost his power" last season he was on pace for 51 over 162 games. All of those numbers are well above MKB averages. A team does not need HRs to win and a player does not need to hit HRs to have "power" or be an effective and valuable player.
That's incorrect. The average will go from 18.6 down to 12 or so. No way every pitch will be exactly at 15 seconds not even close. So double your calculation.
