Great, as long as it’s not Houston. If the Texans are sold on getting a QB and are concerned about Young’s size, Stroud should be the choice in my opinion. Negatives: Anthony Richardson Only has one year of starting experience. Sprays the ball wildly due to inconsistent mechanics. Completed fewer than 55% of his throws in college, and accuracy generally doesn’t improve significantly at the next level. A relatively high rate of completed passes required adjustments that limited yards after the catch. Doesn’t always transfer weight effectively, throwing without a foundation and relying on raw arm strength to muscle the ball downfield. Base gets narrow at times in the pocket. Runs himself into pressure at times rather than hanging in a clean pocket. Could be better at killing plays rather than taking chances on risky throws; made too many attempts off of his back foot or under heavy pressure. Some missed opportunities on tape where bigger plays were available. Struggled when not operating off of play-action (50.7%, 6.1 YPA, six touchdowns and seven interceptions). Was often under pressure (37.6% of dropbacks), so some bad habits may improve with better line play.
One has gotten to the SB. At this point, I would be pretty excited about a winning season and getting into the playoffs.
Young probably played against his doctor's advice out of a sense of duty to his team and a competitive nature which raises the question, did he do more damage? Bonus question - why would he not throw at the combine and put his throwing day off as long as possible?
The only ones who subscribe to the possibility there are lingering problems with his shoulder appears to be a couple of people on this board. Still looking for a link to any team expressing any concern whatsoever about Young’s shoulder. Not uncommon for QBs not to throw at the combine.
From what I have seen, only teams are privvy to this sort of information and it is confidential. Those who turn a blind eye to possible lingering injury concerns are not being objective.
That could very well be. Subconscious bias is definitely a thing and I can see myself getting pulled into rumor because of it. I guess for me in its essence and even understanding that injuries can be flukey and random for any guy any size on a football field I just feel that the QB (who takes a ton of hits per game even with the extra rules and protection) should be built to withstand that type of punishment and not be built like a WNBA player. Its great that Young is ahead of the curve today in read and recognition and processing ability, but that doesnt mean any of the other QBs in this draft cant be coached up. It really comes down to fan preference and I can see why Young gets guys hyped up. Its cool to see a little dude out there balling out vs the giants of the sport. I just dont think he will be long for the job and if we're going to be sacrificing a QB to a 5 year window I'd rather play copycat and do what other teams are doing to get to championship games and Super Bowls and run the QB as the main feature of an offensive attack.
You are just making crap up. No one in the world is talking possible long term affects but you and you have zero idea what you are talking about. "Bryce has been able to practice some this week," Saban said during his appearance on "Hey Coach" at Baumhower's Victory Grill in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. "There's no real bad damage or anything in his shoulder, so this is not a long-term thing“ Young, the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, suffered a sprain to the AC joint in his shoulder during Alabama's 49-26 win over Arkansas last week. Though there is no structural damage to Young's throwing arm and his rotator cuff is intact, he did not throw on Thursday to rest the shoulder and give him the best possible chance to play against Texas A&M.
Once again, Wilson is Bryce’s size and has been a starter for more than a decade and took his team to the SB.
Um no dude! 3/8th of an inch and 3lbs (possibly 8lbs if we go to playing weight) is the difference in a decade long career with a SB win and another appearance. Duh. You should be like us and put all our eggs into the “coaching up of every trait a QB needs in the correct-sized guys” basket. Because you can’t coach injury avoidance. And this only counts for small players, not every single player in the league.
Ok, that is a fair opinion. I just wanted to see where you are coming from. on my end, I see your concern for future injury (and to some degree, current injury) however, where we differ the greatest amount is where I don’t think his size will hinder him from playing the game at an elite level. And as I have stated before, I like the risk of injury while getting elite play over the risk of a prototype size guy actually getting coached up to potential. but that is IMHO. I guess we’ll see.
At this point, do we have any examples of injuries that have happened because guys are too small? Now we can’t look at height and weight, it’s gotta be how they are built.
Who was Who was this QB? A winning season, getting into the playoffs? We've been there done that, I set my expectations a lot higher than this. If a winning record and making the playoffs is all you want, then sign Jimmy G and draft Anderson/Achane/Washington etc... and spend all of the money you've got to add a couple of more top tier FA's.
