I don't agree, simply because of timeline. When you have that much cap space and no good players, the main goal is to find a young player to spend the money on.

We are not 2020 Suns already has Booker, Bridges that needs a veteran PG to contend. What you want is to find a 23 year old Harden like we did 10 years ago.

I want Harden to return. Hopefully for a 3 year contract at Harden-ish $$.

I would give a wry smile to know that Harden's habit is to land at a team that gives up a lot to acquire him, then leave the team stuck without resources or with add-ons that no longer are needed.

OK? Who is that someone younger who we can realistically sign that actually wants to be here?

It depends on what players are in place. If the Suns didn't get Durant, they would be a mediocre team. CP3 would not be enough to support Booker to contend like he did a couple of years ago. His contract would have been a dead weight for these two years.

The Rockets with an aging Harden would be the same unless they could get at least two stars playing with him.

There's a scenario where a Rockets team with Harden, Wemby, and KPJ would be pretty good if Wemby lives up to the hype....unlike the last top 3 picks the Rockets got.

Our guys are three years away. Harden probably has 4 years left in his career. We are talking about carrying an expiring contract once our young guys are ready to compete, whatever that core may be.

We've tanked 3 straight years, have gotten plenty of FRPs and we still own Brooklyn's future. I think the timeline is perfect to bring in Harden, let him teach the young guys how to win, put the young guys at a position to be most effective, and just watch our team grow into future contenders.

Maybe we get lucky and land Wemby this year and maybe we don't, but no need to be stubborn on tanking especially when OKC owns the Rockets's unprotected FRP, an unprotected FRP swap and a top 10 protected FRP.

Maybe Morey has already made him that offer and Harden refused to sign it ..... wanting to see how the season plays out and what happens in the offseason.
They have no cap space and no draft picks in the coming draft and none that can be traded before 2028. They will find it very hard to improve that roster.

Why wouldn't Harden consider coming back to Houston to team up with another star and a bunch of young guys that have a lot of potential along with a pile of draft assets that could be used to further improve.

Yep, the worst that could happen is... we don't win a championship. Which we're almost certainly not going to do for at least 3 years anyway. Might as well make the team fun to watch again & hopefully get the kids some playoff experience.

Na Derrick Rose and a bunch of no named scrubs is better than a guy who is now back in the conversation for being currently top 10 again and arguably the best playmaker in the nba. Just had 28 points 12 assists and 3 steals tonight while outplaying D Mitchell

I legit do think he's gonna be playing until he's in his 40s. He's gonna get his and somebody's gonna pay him to do it, just watch. He'll be another 20 pounds overweight and still averaging like 14 and 6 for some team at like age 42. Why not get those millions if you can?

Not sure about 42 but yes his game is not based on athleticism or anything speed related. It’s all about instinct, feel and ability to read things. Generally if he takes care of himself like he did this past season there is no reason he can’t be elite for another 3 or 4 more years.

22/6/12 PG of one of the top teams in the league. Fans of the worst team in the league don’t want him.
    Make it make sense, pls.

Tried telling u guys that harden is to old, not washed yet,but at his age and milage from his relentless days as a rocket you knew injuries would catch up. And at his age it will take longer to recover and when he does he won't be the same, this applies to every athlete in history not named LeBron. I mean harden played like 47 minutes in one game just a week ago and only scored single digits. That's not a max player and I bet we are so desperate to quit being the worst team in the league we will throw the farm at him, he will help the young players mentally but physically he's about done. And really I think a hard-core coach like udoka along with possibly jaylen brown would be enough to motivate the young players on how to win, we don't and shouldn't have to overpay for harden when we still might be stuck with the worst coach in history. I think we should change coaches instead of having harden be the "coach" on the floor. But what do I know?
