If by role player you mean will score over 16 ppg, grab 7 rebs and guard the other team's franchise player I think thats great return for a 3rd pick even if he is a "role player".

If that’s a great return for the 3rd pick, then what kind of return is Tari Eason?!?!?

    He.

    Was.

    300 lbs.

    When.

    Drafted.

There's threads on the bbs about it!

Rockets turned his soup dumpling body into USDA prime.

They didn't make him substantially heavier.

He was always heavy - the second he left the Rockets he .. gained 100lbs.

Y’all go crazy everytime Eason has a good game then he will throw 8-12 stinkers in a row and y’all go silent again

Eason is great when Rockets can get out and run, he mostly got dunks which helped him not miss the bunnies … I’m happy for him because he’s been horrid on D the last 4-5 games

We don’t need to compare Bari and Eason .. we should want them both to workout

Loved seeing him be aggressive with the rim last night. Not aggressive like Patrick Mahomes brother at a bar but dunking and slashing to the basket not stopping halfway there on his cuts. Patience is important. Keep shooting!

This is another cliche term that has muddied up the waters, all players have a role/position to play to best of their ability, some carry a heavier burden than others and are labeled superstars or jack of all trades or 3pt sniper or defensive minded or glue guy or heart n soul etc

I really like her. She is passionate, and entertaining.
Only when she praises Nix, she goes a bit too far :p.

What an odd thing to say. Of course we all want them to work out. Currently, Tari Eason, per minute, seems to be working out a lot more. That’s okay. It’s very, very early. Relax guy.

If he wasn't a bust, he would be showing more than this.

Haha c'mon that's not a great return for a 3rd pick. I get that people have already lowered their expectations but lowering your expectations and then coming up with a scenario in that he exceeds your lowered expectations to justify his draft position isn't it. You expect a 3rd pick to be your franchise player.

Since when? The list of third picks who have been busts is a mile long, the list who have only become solid rotation players is also very long. It's rare for any draft pick outside of #1 to be a franchise player, and even #1 picks are not surefire all-stars.

I'd argue that outside of the first pick overall, any draft pick that nets you a starting-caliber NBA player is a successful pick.

The thing is if i told you that your 3rd overall pick was nothing more than a great role player in a rebuild era, you would pick someone else instead.
