Jalen WIlliams, Chet, release our draft picks and one or two extra and i do that 1,000x out of 1,000x. It's unfortunate but because we are in such bad shape. As generational as Chet may be I actually think OKC DOESN'T do that deal. I'd still be willing to do it removing some of the assets... like Williams, Chet and release of our future picks.... again we are just in such bad shape we'd be foreced to do a deal like this. Also, I still believe highly in Chet. Even if Wemby light at the end of the day, 3 point shot and staying on the court will ultimately determine the difference between the two, and I think Chet is the better 3 point shooter ... he WAS the more healthy historically of the two, but obviously thats out the window now.
I'm bored enough to entertain this ridiculously hypothetical scenario. I'll even add to the hypotheticalness of it. Yeah. I know that's not a word. If OKC somehow landed the #2 pick I would definitely do SGA, Scoot, Chet and and 4-5 of their 1st rounders. Preferably not ours, because I think once we add SGA, Scoot, Chet and our guys have a chance to mature another year - and we maybe add some top notch roleplayers - we'd be back in the play-in at the least. Hell, I'd rather gamble on OKC's picks because if Wenbamyama does end up having health issues they'd be back at the bottom of the league. I am as captivated by Wenbanyama's talent as anyone - but I think after Ralph Sampson and Yao I am just extremely weary of guys that tall.
Likely off the list: Booker, Tatum, Giannis, Luka, Embid, Jokic, Kawhii Possible if convinced. Garland, Haliburton. Teams who'd be interested in buying Wemby from Rockets. Celtics: J Brown, contract extension. Hawks:. Trae Hornets: LaMelo Lakers: Anthony Davis Nets: Bridges (and sweeteners) Raptors: multiple anyone on the menu (Barnes, OG, Siakim) Bulls: Lavine (and sweeteners) Knicks: Brunson (and sweeteners) Cavs: Mitchell or Allen or Mobley...etc Heat: Butler, Bam, (anyone, heat goes young) Jazz: Lauri M. + picks Blazers: Dame ( then they go young with Simon's and Wemby) Wolves: KAT or Gobert (they go young with Edwards and Wemby) Grizz: Ja ( maybe ) Worriers: Klay and sweeteners Kings: Fox or Sabonis. Pels: Zion or Ingram. (Griffin might say no, but that team is decent even without Zion. Contractually speaking, if they divide his big contract by number of actual games played). Clippers: paule George and sweeteners. Magic: Wagner or Paolo. + sweetners ## 'value if the car is not driven off the lot' Once a piayer is taken, trade becomes less likely since people go into the three year wait and see timeline. Two thirds of the team would at least consider thier number one guy. They likely offer their #2 + sweetners. ----- If it was the reverse, where Rockets offer a team for Wemby, out of Green Jabari and Sengun. I'd offer two of the three plus top pick. Maybe all three and no pick.
The hype from scouts for Victor is a top 5 all time player so... trading him for anything would be stupid. Sure you can consider it if OKC offers their entire asset bag but even Presti won't gamble like that.
I would trade for SGA and a few 1st. See if OKC feels confident in Giddy/Chet/Vic I see the same for Vic I saw with Chet and Chet didn’t even make it through preseason. I would never trust Vic to be healthy still in May/June after long seasons If not SGA I would trade Vic for Giddey + a few picks. Then I would trade up a combination of Thunder & Brooklyn picks to get Henderson Henderson/Giddey Green/Veteran KPJ/KMJ Jabari/Tari Sengun/veteran Maybe ask for Giddey, Chet, Thunder 2023 pick
I understand that, but that was his question. I wouldn't hesitate to throw Sengun in as well. But again, that's not getting it done.
Not possible. It might be possible to go from 3 to 2 at a steep price, but going from 2 to 1 is not going to be possible.
2 out of 3? Lol. Its just crazy thinking any one of those players is too high a price to pay or that anybody would not laugh uproariously at the idea of offering any of Jabari Smith Jalen Green and Sengun for Wembanyama. Team GM: well fans, we had the rights best prospect in 20 years who is the most high profile, sought after instant box office success rookie in decades..... But we figured that the best move for our franchise would be to throw it all away for the Jalen Green - Jabari Smith Jr experience! Also Sengoattt! They're only 20! Core of the worst team in the NBA! Plus we can sign Boban! Lolololololoololol
i think anything is possible... whether or not its the right thing to do at the price tag attached would be the concern... i mean... if yer tellin me if we're sittin at #1... and we can drop to #2 and get Scoot, while stockpiling X # of pix, whatever young talent, an established vet, blah blah blah... there is a tipping point... if not, you are not properly evaluating the pieces (and risk) with all the assets... imo. Wemby is impressive with unreal potential - but it aint like he's Lebron comin in as a rookie... Edit: C'mon folks... if a gun were to your head... and u gotta bet a pull of the trigger whether Wemby will be a LeBron - or a Kwame Brown... are u REALLY all that confident with your answer... lol
If wemby is as good as his hype has been, u never trade him. He will b your cash cow for years to come especially if he's that talented. U want to b the team that drafted what could b best player of his generation and playing him not the short sighted team that traded him away.
The injury concern is a legit thing and agree there are rare packages that are worth it however low the possibility.
and i think the 'optics' associated with potentially trading a generational talent is certainly something any fo would have to consider... but given the inherent uncertainty concerning unproven rookies - there is a LOGICAL point where u take the deal... If u get a Herschel Walker offer on an unproven rookie... i mean... Shaq, LeBron.... ok... but is anybody THAT confident on Wemby?
In the end it is a gamble. Will Wemby be the first freakishly tall player who does not have their career cut short due to injury? If that is the belief then you keep him. As for myself as I stated earlier the injury concerns are very real so If he is still growing come draft time I would definitely entertain trade options
These are the players in his height range to have played in the NBA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_players_in_National_Basketball_Association_history
Lmao I'd take 3 years of prime lebron for vic. A lot has to go right for him to play at best player ever level for 3 collective years.
