I thought this was a cruel joke until seeing this. When Vegas puts money on the line .... that makes a statement like few other things can.
Embiid really is a black hole on offense. And for a guy who's 7'1" 300 lbs, his efficiency isn't even that mind blowing in 2023.
In addition to or instead of Harden? Either way the answer is no. But, if you mean in addition to maybe Draymond is the right price level. He’s star adjacent maybe? If it’s instead of Harden **** that noise- he’s worthless in that role.
Philly is 7th in offensive rating. 4th in team TS%. Embiid is 17th in the league in TS%. The only very high volume scorer with a higher scoring efficiency than Embiid is Dame. Doc makes some dumb decisions, but some of the criticisms about Philly/Joel in this thread just aren’t rooted in fact.
There is a difference, we only got #2 and #3 while Cavs won three #1 picks, we're stressing out just to get one #1 pick.
We see how that worked out. Harden has to be the star. He was a ball hog, even in his worse shooting days. He and CP3 had issues after playing together. He and Dwight had issues after playing together. No way in hell would he want someone like Victor Wembanyama the show if we were lucky enough to draft him this year. I don't want a 38 year old Harden back. He quit on us and booked. No! Please no!
I rather have him back then get sht on for a 4 years in a row. Harden at this stage of career is more of a pg, which we desperately need Like him or hate him, he makes our team at least a bit respectable and competitive.
Some really tainted revisionist history going on here. CP3 has had issues with most stars he’s played with, same as Dwight though for the opposite reasons. CP3 was a big part of why DJ wanted out and also clashed with BG. Dwight and Harden PnR was devastating as well but Dwight got stupid greedy and wanted to be a hero in the post (what he was worst at) vs PnR (what he was best at). Harden and CP3 also played great together in the moments where they played off each other. It wasn’t until CP3 got hurt and then couldn’t take advantage the next season when put on an island on the perimeter against big men. As for big men, Harden makes life super easy for them. Wemby would LOVE playing next to him.
I just don't like watching him play. I got sick of him in Houston. Never watched him after he left. To each his own. I hare the dribble dribble dribble dribble, ISO slow ball.
I don't watch him either. But he is a boon to the youngsters. We need a pg now more than ever and Harden is a playmaking maestro. If we don't draft Scoot we are pretty much boned unless we overpay for a pg other than Harden and the alternatives arent appeasing either.
You are passing judgement on a guy who by your own admission haven’t watched play in years. If you think he is still playing the same brand then god bless you
A is easier said then done. Someone has to be available and you would be eliminating ball handler and center from potential matches.
It's a lousy year... my guess is if we get Victor, we get Harden and then package a couple young players and picks for another star. We would be able to absorb most of the salary if not all which gives us an advantage if competing offers.
