I'm saying that seeing a person with fake shapes under a shirt isn't that damaging in the first place, and that it isn't really anything that any person not directly involved needs to worry about.
Well, there is lies the rub. This is the biggest problem I have with it. There are children that are being put on hormones after only a one time consultation. There are "clinics" that are opening up, and in some cases these places are far more motivated by money or greed or doctrine. How the USA is handling this is very different than how most of the Western world is. We are talking about letting minors, children take hormones that have long term effects even after they are discontinued- there are cancer risks and other risks.
I have heard some people claim that gay or transgendered people should not be able to teach - I don't agree with that at all. If they are qualified, they should be able to teach.
The kids do matter. Their school district should feel bad for allowing them to be used by a person with a broader social vendetta who was either trying to take advantage of the former's lax and absurdly tolerant regulations or engage in an online culture war through absurdist behavior. Either way both parties used the kids as props for his "activism" (for lack of a better word). The district failed the kids by allowing it to continue in the name of tolerance and the teacher failed by showing them that they were a means to his ends.
Very conservative and religious people that go to my son's school. There are 3-4 openly gay teachers, and there is a transgender man that was a woman teaching there a few years ago... now is a man, and they want her removed.
"That is strange and most definitely not a threat facing the nation's school children outside of the tens of students at your school." @FranchiseBlade, probably.
And I can agree that more than one counseling session should be needed before undergoing hormone replacement therapy. That said there are a lot of things that our culture allows such as cosmetic surgery for young people that are also invasive and could have health consequences. I would also require counseling before allowing those. I don’t see a rush from conservatives to ban breast augmentations or lip silicone injections for youth though. Largely this is a problem of that much of our health care is driven for profit. That yes there are likely unscrupulous doctors and others who are rushing youth into HRT. I suspect there are far more plastic surgeons rushing them into surgery to improve their looks too.
Nook described nothing going on at that school that was a threat. What did you find threatening in that descripción? Or is it supposed to be a burn to label someone as trans? Kind of like the burn of calling someone an N word lover. You are seen for who you are.
Again I wouldn’t make it illegal as there does appear to be youth who feel so upset and dissociated with their looks that they will consider suicide. There are also plenty of people with problems like cleft lips or other problems that a lifetime of misery will be fixed with cosmetic surgery.
They can make it where cleft lips, etc. can be fixed etc. I don't think that a minor should have their breasts or genitalia removed until they are an adult. Also, when you look at the data, there is very very little out there on the suicide rates of transgendered children/teenagers that have to wait until they are adults to have this type of surgery. The studies out there are extremely flawed, are not randomized and are actually self selecting participants. We are still in the infancy on a lot of this, as far as what we actually know.
I swear, it's like these people exist to rub each others' backs and stir up daily online shitstorms that don't matter to anyone who isn't on Twitter.

If you know someone wants to present as a gender different than their sex - then call them what they are presenting as. It is just basic courtesy and their is zero reason to dehumanize another person. It isn't funny to misgender someone.
