Just find a job that's WFH....then won't have to worry about any traffic in any metropolitan.

I live in Kingwood and work on Allen Parkway. Over the years, my stress level has gone down a little each time my commute changes.
    • Drive to work 5 days a week (stress level high)
    • Take Park and Ride to work 5 days a week (stress level lower but more expensive)
    • Work remotely 2 days a week, Park and Ride 3 days a week (stress level down significantly)
    • Work remotely 5 days a week (almost zero stress)
Even though I'm slightly underpaid for what I do compared to the industry standard, that's a tradeoff I'm willing to accept as long as I get to work from home full time. I haven't commuted to work in 3 years this month and I'll never go back.

    Bingo.

Houston has tons of blue collar jobs that you can't do from home. It also still has tons of conservative, older business owners and managers who can't let go of that in-office mindset. So compared to the national average where more and more people WFH, Houston is going to stay at a level it was at 5-10 years ago where many cities have gone down in stress levels.

These studies that take a basket of metrics that are artfully related at best and then arbitrarily assign weights to them are bs. A lot of smart watches can measure heart rate variability, which is used to measure stress, and someone could aggregate smart watch data by metro to make an actual comparison.

I'm about to take a less paying job but is full remote. The time I spend commuting is time away from my 3 & 1 year olds and I'll gladly accept less pay to spend more time with them.

No doubt. And the data will be there within 5 years anyway as smart watch health data becomes voluntarily integrated into EMRs. At my last place of employment we were talking about this five years ago. It's just a matter of time.

She's not from Houston, she's from Cal-i-for-ni-a. The proto Cali to Austin girl. Mike Judge predicts the future yet again.

But it was pre-smokerface JA so it gets a point.

Work from home and don't schedule any meetings in the city before 10 or after 2. Completely stress free.
