In DEFENSE of Alperen Sengun - Analysis on why Sengun may already be an above average defender

It’s just silly. The eye in the sky doesn’t lie, Alpi struggles at times. But the whole team is soft if you ask me. I think the losing is starting to get these guys. This should be the last year of the intentional tank whether they get Wemby or not.

One star vet like Harden and a couple of vet role players is what this team needs the most.

Concentrate on 4-5 players as your young core and surround them with veterans.

Sengun being above average on defense isn’t even the worst of it when we have dumb sengoofs talking about he’s already better than Harden among a whole bunch of other nonsense

and the constant excuses and blaming everybody else but him has been outta control for awhile now…I’ve seen people on Twitter say that Sengun’s bad defense is because of the coaching staff making him scared to be aggressive and pick up fouls

For sure, all that money for an 8-10th seed.

 

8th seed with a bunch of 23 year old players means hca every year when those same players hit their prime.

 

They won't hit their prime with 23 and now they are only 21-22.

 

Just because others think Sengun is subpar on the defensive end, doesnt mean they are haters. I like Sengun, I just don't think he should be a starter on a contender. If he's your starter, other teams are going to continue to pick him out on the defensive end.

My question to you is, "Would you prefer the Rockets continue as currently constructed or obtain a better defender at the center position in order to contend, even if it means sacrificing Sengun?"

 

Didn't you know that franchise players struggle to score over 15 points regardless of who's on the floor with them? This thread reminds me of when the Sengtards started claiming he was a great athlete because he's dunked a few times.

 

James Harden is an elite post defender. Just awful on the perimeter.
