Can't be too personal if a 5-year contract makes him stay. :D Maybe Roosh means it's personal to him. lol.

Are we really going to pass his guess as "knowing something"?

    Let's see:
    • This team is a bottom dweller.
    • Not competing for championship anytime soon.
    • Does not have any attractive all star talent to pair up with.
Obviously, if he comes back to Houston then it is something more than basketball. I would hope most smart individuals can figure that out without any inside sources. No need to overthink things. @Reeko

Funny. I get two responses: Harden won't use us as leverage because he'll get whatever contract he wants, and Harden won't use us as leverage because no one is giving him the deal he wants.

I of course have no inside information. But I think this sequence of posts show why Harden could want to use us as leverage.

I doubt he left on "great" terms when he basically blasted the organization on his way out. You may be right but I don't think proceeding with Harden is the best course of action for this team right now. They need to find their own way and none of these players fit with Harden's playstyle. Harden is not a movement offense kind of player nor is he a hard nosed defender that's going to instill that type of culture into this team. We need a Patrick Beverly or FVV type more than Harden. And I love Harden. Second best Rocket ever and anyone that badmouths him can eat a d*ck. But those days are over.

The Rockets will have 70 million plus in capspace this summer. Say you give 40 plus million to harden, then I would see what Jerami Grant from Portland wants. I would offer him 25 million a year for 4 years .

If Grant dosent bite then go after a shooter like Buddy Hield or a defensive glue guy like Robert Williams and fill out a few spots with cheaper vets like Seth Curry or Max Strus off the bench

    Harden
    Green
    Jabari
    Jerami Grant
    Wemby or Sengun

And most importantly go get Nick Nurse as the head coach

No chance in hell Brooklyn will not give him the full max. I doubt he will leave Brooklyn either given it seems they see him as the future franchise player.I don’t think he is even a option

All sounds so so so easy.

Just sayin’, Scoot II might head this way. Then what?

Wemby might head this way. How’s that fit?

Harden might head this way? What the hey, that ainta the James ‘I know’.

The fit is Harden is the playmaker and will make Greens life so much easier as opposed to now where he has to creaate and take contested shots. Green will be so much more efficient with Harden. Grant will be the glue guy and Wemby will do his thing

no he doesn't. he's a solid role player who can stretch the floor. That's it. hes about to be 27 years old. He isn't magically turning into a max player when hes never been close to that. There is no potential to be unlocked. He is what he is. you put him next to actual stars and he can fill in the gaps where needed

in no way he is a max player or a franchise player

Signing Johnson to say a 30 million dollar deal will put Brooklyn about 15 million over the luxury tax line.

I am not sure what they are going to do, but I have a hard time believing they want to pay the luxury tax for a team free falling.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but it won't work like that.

The draft is BEFORE free agency, and draft picks count against the cap (I think at 120%, but I may be wrong) until they are signed
Based on 11 players on our roster, best case scenario is salary totalling 59.8M
Add the 2 rookies (assuming best case, we pick 1st and 14th!) - the contracts count as a hold against the cap (almost $12M and over $4M) - if we were to waive Nix, we would be just shy of $60M in cap space (roughly $59.8M)

    Harden max is $46.9M

If we max him, we aren't adding another significant piece, we'd have just $12.9M left to play with. The best option might be a ''lopsided'' trade (where we send out a rookie scale contract and bring back up to $12.9M discrepancy.
OR add the $12.9M to KPjrs and Tate as a SnT.
The SnT method could bring back a "6 year or less" max level player, or basically any amount up to $35M. We might attach an asset to sweeten the deal in the form of a Sengun, or Eason - which makes it almost $39M returning. Instead of either of those guys, add Smith or Green, and you can bring back a 7-9 year Max level contract.

It's a bit tricky, but in the above scenario (ie getting picks 1 and 14) I'd be looking to see if we could flip Sengun and Tate for Anunoby and Flynn (using that 12M in space). Then perhaps a Kpjr trade (with Smith and Garuba, we'd be damn close to a SnT for a 6 year or less max, because we'd then be operating over the cap, having used the space on the OG deal). Edit: Towns would work as a trade for KPjr + Smith + either or Usman or Christopher. I'm not sure if that's an appealing trade for Minnesota? It might be, in theory I could see why they might roll the dice on it.

There's a LONG way to go before we can start thinking in this much fine detail, but there is precious little else to do!! haha

Harden Who? Harden next to Embiid or James Beard the Houston feared?

    I dunno.
I’m totally leery of this whole rumor thingy

If I was to bet, the rumors are all about leverage with Philly. He can get 272 over 5 there and only 201 over 4 anywhere else. If they offer, he stays.

He can't get five years from Philadelphia since he will be 38 before the 5th season.

#2 on Rooshs tweet is exactly what I been saying. It’s not mentioned in the Iko novel though, but it’s 100% true.
