Easiest explanation is the simplest: our front office and coaching staff are lower on Sengun than his stats would indicate because the whole league doesn't value his archetype highly.

Almost no GM's want to bet on or build their team around offense only bigs. Statistically, guys like Vucevic, Randle, Valanciunas, Porzingis, Sabonis etc. have been monsters in the past few years, but they are unfashionable and most teams haven't valued them commensurate to their stats. All of them have either been traded away or been in constant trade rumors.

Even Jokic who is putting up the greatest statistical season of all time has many doubters. If a two way wing was putting up Jokic's stats they'd immediately be in GOAT conversations.

The currently accepted basketball philosophy is that these players are worth less than other archetypes, all else equal. Our front office / coaching staff isn't unique. Not saying I agree with it.

 

To be fair our other first round draft picks seem to be heading into the direction of one way players if things don't change quickly. Green is looking like a one way offensive only player also. Jabari is looking like a defensive specialist when he gets stronger and just meh offensively.

So the same complaint if not more can be applied to Green.

even if they dont like his archetype, he is hustling and is a model of behavior and unselfish play and a walking highlight real and a great statpadder...youd be thinking theyd love him like they love boban at least BUT NO

I don't disagree with you at all about Green and Jabari. I'm not saying one philosophy is right or wrong, just being descriptive about the current groupthink in the NBA. They seem to think:

Two way players > one way wings > one way offensive guards > one way defensive bigs >>> one way offensive bigs and one way defensive guards

Look at the draft. Lots of the first 4 groups taken in the first round recently, basically only Sengun in the last group. Teams are down on it.

And to be clear, I think Sengun is better at basketball than Green or Jabari (by a mile). Just pointing at that most front offices seem to want to invest more in worse current players at more desirable archetypes/roles.

Don't be stupid. As far as the team is concerned, those two go hand in hand.

Silas is a terrible coach; that goes without saying. It's not only Alpi that suffers from Tapeworm's incompetence. In the words of Eric Gordon, "there's no development" for anybody. There's no offensive or defensive system. Every one of our players has regressed.

That bucket of estrogen throws his players and staff under the bus instead of growing a pair of raisins and owning up to his mistakes, so the situation grows progressively worse. This team will never get back up unless he's kicked out of the door very soon.

Sengun (as well as a few other players) plays to win every time; however, he is on a very short leash, constantly ignored, played out of his natural position, not supported against biased calls, etc etc etc... He's a very valuable asset who has all these very solvable problems in his head. Him playing like his productive self is a great advantage for this young team if and when they want to win. (See Lucas games e.g.) Nevertheless, he is sabotaged because this stupid beanstalk is either too stupid or too obstinate to get the team to play through him.

With Silas,
- half the team's growing more and more used to not being held accountable for anything and
- the other half's getting more and more depressed.

Silas is cancer. Not for Sengun only: He (as well as Stone, of course) has killed the winning culture and pride of this organization.

Don't you see what's good for Sengun's also what's good for the team?

 

Think a lot of you are forgetting that Silas sees the head honcho so much as his own son that he literally cries about him on the spot, and how Sengun running the show might get in the way of all that.
