Will be interesting how many people will bail at halftime tonight if it’s another classic Silas Stinker. I for one might be guilty of bailing on the game tonight if it’s looking like a Silas Stinker to watch TLOU. From the preview it looks like a prequel. With only a couple of episodes left I have to imagine they wouldn’t put this in this late in the season if there wasn’t some good stuff in this episode.
It was a fine episode that was very faithful to the Left Behind DLC. I think they wanted to make what happened to Joel in the last episode linger a while longer and show why Ellie is so determined to save him (aside from the obvious reasons).
Good episode, I didn't care for how long they spent on the backstory. Then again, I never played the game.
Expanding character development makes payoffs better. You learn a lot about Ellie as a character this episode and that always is beneficial to an overall story in the long run. Also the mall scenes were shot beautifully with great lighting. Looked really good on my new TV in Dolby Vision.
You don't know what's going on down there when they're alone. Could be all butt stuff. I agree, the entire flashback could have been 15-20 minutes shorter.
Thought it was a bit slow if I'm being honest. Definitely my least favorite episode. It really is almost like 2 shows. The first half of episode 1, and episode 3 and 7 character studies all take their time. The rest of the series moves 100mph. I find myself complaining about the pacing in both cases. I feel like it's trying to be too many things in a series that is likely only going to max out at 2 fairly short seasons.
Ep7 between the two friends was slow in parts, the action scene at the end was also a bit meh. I'm still with the show. Will see what they do next episodes. Tangent: Will give bonus points to the Mortal Kombat inclusion. Baraka's fatality button combination was written into the dialogue, yes was the actual combo from the game. Some useless info in the brain never leave us.
Probably going to be at least 3 seasons. If the series is still popular and they make another game within that time, maybe more (I'd guess 5ish). I'm a bit conflicted on Episode 7. On its own, I think it's great (I skipped the DLC, so was largely unware), but I don't know if it fits well within the flow of the other episodes (including what I assume will happen in the following 2 episodes). As cringey as it sounds, I wonder if they held off and released it in April-ish, as "a prequel episode" or something, that *might* have made more sense? Would have an effect similar to the actual DLC from the game. Or maybe not. I don't know. I'm not a showrunner for a very good reason.
It was an okay episode. Honestly, I feel the same about it as episode 3. Great character development, but not much plot movement. Slightly better as it's a central character, but the episode feels like a slog to get through. Same criticism applies: cut down the filler in editing.
Finally saw episode 7. It wasn't bad, it was okay. A little slow at times but okay. Kinda dragged throughout, could have used good editing to make it 10-15 minutes shorter with a better pace. I definitely would have liked to see how Ellie dealt with her friend becoming a zombie and how she got to Marlene instead. That being said, it's still 10 million times better than the hot garbage episode 3 was.
I loved the episode. I do not feel like these type of episodes are slow. I love them taking time for character development. The characters is what sets this show apart from all those other post apocalyptic shows. I am loving every episode so far.
