This isnt even an insult. It makes sense that most of you just dont really understand basketball. Its called a switch
I watched the video and I don't think it's Sengun's problem. The Blazers obviously have better ball movements. I also don't think Sengun can keep defending in front of Liliard.
he was lost on defense multiple times. His man was on the perimenter or cutting while he was standing in the paint
He is playing center and why do you ask the center out of paint? Silas boy Nix should be on the perimeter. His first mission is protecting the paint.
I watched it, he was bad. Sengun is not a good defender and he was getting killed. Why is he the only one who ever gets benched for this? He's not even the worst defender on the team. We've got a team full of horrible defenders. I could make a video of Jabari that looks just as bad as this Sengun montage, Jabari was atrocious and he played 38 minutes. How many other players on this team have been benched for poor defense and then singled out by the head coach after the game? Has it ever happened to Jalen? There are very few people who defend Senguns defense here. It's that this "accountability" only applies to one player on the team.
Jabari sucks ass too but hes a quicker and more versatile defender. Thats not really even worth debating If your argument is jabari should be benched too then I dont disagree. I dont like any of these players
I can tell which people watched videos and didn’t understand what they saw. Eubanks had 9 ****ing points - he didn’t destroy **** you halfwit. Most of us who are Alpi fans aren’t blind - he has defensive lapses but so does everyone else on the team in equal or worse measure. And Alpi is the only guy who plays a sustainable style of winning basketball - he can create his own offense and he creates for others. Jalen and KPJ can get crazy hot, but taking more difficult shots than smart shots is ultimately inefficient and losing basketball.
These are true statements: Sengun is a bad defender and played bad defense last night. Silas is a bad coach and coached poorly last night.
He's better then Sengun but yeah, my argument is that as a coach you have to be fair to your players. Everyone has to be held to the same standard. Either you allow poor defense and let the guys learn by getting roasted on the court, or you bench the players who are getting killed. It's gotta apply the same to everyone. And Silas doesn't do that. There is only one player on this roster who gets benched for being a bad defender. And also only one player who gets called out by the coach post game.
The kind of response I expected. Just crying like a little manchild I watched the actual game. He doesnt have "defensive lapses" hes a bad defender at all times. The vods are still online for you since you missed the part where eubanks punked him on offense AND defense
Nice defense. Did you notice that the center you were talking about had teammates who were doing their proper rotations so that he did not have to cover the other offensive players? Did you see that kind of "switch" from the other Rockets defenders last night? Nope. Those shots that Dame took in that video were also defended relatively well last night, he just had an extraordinarily great shooting night. Even the normally combative Calvin Murphy just had to laugh at the incredible shooting displayed by Dame.
Jalen was and is worse on defense. Sengun atleast rebounds. Jalen gets no steals, gets blown by, out muscled and dont run break near enough. And on offense Sengun is levels above
I watched the game as well - and the stats back me up 17-10-5 vs 9-8 It’s absolutely embarrassing to see people treat 2 plays where Eubanks scored on Alpi as some kind of domination. And Jabari is ****ing terrible of defense. He may have the physical tools but he sure as **** can’t use them with the total lack of game feel and total lack of brains. Too many of you halfwits think NBA defense is played solely on the individual level. For every possession where Alpi makes a defensive mistake, I see another where our guards act like a turnstile, don’t fight through a screen, don’t rotate correctly or worst of all, don’t get back on defense after a missed shot and give up an easy layup. And when I watch that video, more than half of the defensive breakdowns were due to someone else - not Alpi. I’ve seen exactly the same problems as the dozen games I’ve attended in person this year. If Alpi was the worst defender on the team, you’d expect to see historic performances by big men against us. Instead, it’s almost been exclusively guards and wings getting open 3s against our own guards and wings. This entire team has defensive issues on individual and collective levels yet you defend the singling out and scapegoating of a 20 year kid who is the only one to show significant improvement among any of our young players. Even worse, you’re defending the worst coaching the league has seen since Silas Sr tabled the Bobcats.
Claxtons only use on the court is defense and rebounding. Worthless in 2023 nba terms, guys like him have a very short lifespan in the nba. Before the Rockets/Curry revolution, Andre Drummond was considered a top center. Now? Drummonds passed around like a replaceable asset. Ill take an offensive dynamo like Sengun over a kid who is just a taller Faried.
He won't, and I know we are tanking and all, but having to watch this guy for the rest of the season does a lot of damage to the Rockets brand, fan goodwill, and the development of our young players. They should end this travesty now and fire him and his sycophant assistants like Rick Higgins.
