Nix lost us the game against the heat with piss poor defense at the end of the game and he never got called out. Green needs a map for how lost he looks out there on defense and never gets called out. It’s only Sengun.
Our young guys looked so happy... Still my favorite win of the last 3 years. Shout out to Coach Lucas.
I'd still give the Atlanta game an edge for me just because they were getting clowned on and came back to punch the Hawks in the nuts for their troubles, but yeah I wish we could see a few more moments like that.
Has Lucas even been on the bench recently? I haven't seen him since that "accidental" like of an anti-Silas tweet. I might be wrong, but it feels like Lucas isn't on the same page with Silas, necessarily.
I gave us a 5% chance of beating Atlanta (some hope). I didn't think there was a chance in hell we would stop Giannis and the Bucks. I've never been more proud of this young squad. Takes a real coach to get the best out of these kids. Lucas brought that dog out of them. Team looks totally different under this scrub, Silas.
The only concession I would make is that it's "only" a handful of plays in one quarter, but almost all of those plays involved pretty bad defense. Whether it's lack of effort or poor instincts, it wasn't good. He was either badly beat or never even covered his man almost every time.
It would make even more sense in this scenario if after the last game, he ripped off his mask to reveal his true identity.... Lovie Smith!
The sad part is there are some players who may be blaming Sengun for their own ineptness on defense on top of Silas' total incompetence as a coach. There was a player who was overheard on the Rockets broadcasters' mic who screamed "Alpi" after allowing an offensive player to get by him easily. That player wanted to put the blame on Sengun for his defensive lapse. It reminded me of Jabari screaming at the coaches to take Sengun out after he himself failed to stop his man from scoring. Meanwhile, Sengun was a distance away from the play. This team is disgusting and no one in the organization has a sense of personal accountability for their mistakes and incompetence. Their favorite scapegoat is, ironically, their current best player. In fairness to Sengun and the other players with potentially bright futures in the NBA, they might want to get out of this mess asap to save their own careers. What a sad situation for a once proud team of back-to-back champions.
I see a lot of excuses, but nothing changes the fact that Alpi has not been good on D. You can argue as to whether others have been worse, but he, objectively, has not been good. By the way, I thought KPJ and Green were holding Sengun back? In his last 10 games, he's averaged 12.8 points, 8 boards, and 4 assists a game on 45% shooting despite playing about 30 minutes a game. That's pretty mediocre. Why do so many on this board refuse to acknowledge the faults in Sengun's game? As it stands, he's a poor defensive center who does not shoot threes. That combination creates a huge liability regardless of the other ways he excells.
sengun is the best rockets player defense wise! now he is on a tanking team and the boss doesnt want him to play the real defense, when he will be on a contender he gonna be elite defensively!
Exactly right. And it seems like it's not only Silas who is doing that. The assistant coach who was interviewed by Vanessa at halftime was prodded to say something about Sengun's play and he kinda had to force himself to say a few positive things and then started to state that Sengun had a lot of shots but was missing them. It was stated in a way that he singled out Sengun's misses while the team was missing most of their 3-point shots by the buckets. It is a mystery as to why they are treating their own player this way, especially the consistent open criticism that is not good for the development of a promising player.
Well, for all of the faults and intergalactic stupidity of Green and KPJ, with them out, you pretty much have Sengun and Company. Sengun will get all the attention. Also, lots of players would look like shizzlenit on defense if the opposing guards had an unabated path to the basket. Leave your man to cover or stay at home? F***ed if you do, f***ed if you don't: the new Rockets slogan.
i am gonna trust your data even youre not a trustworthy person... this is solid numbers given the situation... if you take ball from hardens hands, play him 15 minutes sometimes, remove all the spacing, and sit him when he is hot! he would be much much worse... every player needs a proper role and to be played to his strengths in order to excel...and every player needs RHYTHM and coaching SUPPORT and encouragement but since you are senguns hater of course you wouldn't know anything about this these numbers are small miracle given the hostile environment he is living and working in
sengun is being played out of position it doesnt mater if kpj, green or nix is ballhoging and chucking bad 3s the result will be the same
I am not a Sengun hater. I love Sengun. And he’s played very poorly lately. He’s not rising to the occasion like I hoped.
I see people calling to fire Silas Unfortunately that may ruin the Tank Do we really wanna win? Rocket River
